Zu Junyan: Emperor Wen of Sui was not allowed to reuse it, and after defecting to Li Mi, he wrote a letter condemning Emperor Sui

Text/Feng Xuanyi

When the ancients revolted, they would always write a text to count the various crimes of the other party in order to clarify the justice of their own uprising. This is called "a famous teacher." During the Three Kingdoms period, Yuan Shao wanted to fight against Cao Cao, so he asked Chen Lin to write a "Letter on Cao Cao", which made Cao Cao's back sweat cold. Xu Jingye wanted to raise an army against Wu Zetian, and ordered Luo Binwang to write a "Discussion on Wu Shuo", and Wu Zetian looked at the great call for talent. Both of these are exemplars in the essay, the best of the bunch. The famous sentence in "Seeking Cao Cao": "It is because there are extraordinary people, then there are extraordinary things; there are extraordinary things, and then extraordinary deeds are made." The husband is extraordinary, and the solid is not what the person intends. "It has been praised to this day, and the famous sentence in "Seeking Martial Arts" "Try to see whose family is in the realm of today!" "It's even more domineering side leaks.

Today, Xiaobian will tell you about another article. This text was written by a literati named Zu Junyan on behalf of a literati ordered by Li Mi during his crusade against the Sui Emperor, and he was also the best of the sui texts.

Let's start with its author, Zu Junyan!

Zu Junyan: Emperor Wen of Sui was not allowed to reuse it, and after defecting to Li Mi, he wrote a letter condemning Emperor Sui

01, Zu Junyan, who was not important to Emperor Wen of Sui

Zu Junyan, this person is much less famous than Luo Bin wang, and many readers do not know him. In fact, he was a great talent in the late Sui Dynasty.

Zu Junyan, a native of Fanyang Di Dao (present-day Rongcheng, Hebei), was born in a family of eunuchs, and his father was The Northern Qi chancellor Zu Jue. Zu Jue, the character Xiaozheng, the history books say that he is "alert, rhetorical elegance", "all tricks, not unprepared, outside the article, but also good at music, xie siyi language and yin and yang Zhanhou, the art of medicine is especially good", it can be seen that this person is a very talented man. Moreover, he also deserved to be a big official, and in Northern Qi, it can be said that the power is tilted towards the opposition.

However, Zu Jun's character is not good. The famous Northern Qi general Huo Luguang looked down on Zu Jue as a person and scolded him for being "an eventful beggar, what counts!" After this matter was known to Zu Jue, he held a grudge in his heart and secretly sought an opportunity to take revenge.

Huo Luguang was a hero of Northern Qi, he was outstanding in battle, defeated Northern Zhou's invasions many times, and was the pillar of defense of Northern Qi's rivers and mountains.

When the Northern Zhou regime learned that Zu Hu and Huo Luguang had a vendetta, they took a counter-plot and sent people to the capital of Northern Qi to spread rumors

Mountains do not push themselves to collapse, and mistletoe trees do not support themselves

After Zu Jue heard these four proverbs, he was overjoyed and thought that he could put Huo Luguang to death. He secretly instructed people to play these proverbs to the Northern Qi Emperor Gao Wei. Gao Wei asked Zu Wei, and Zu Wei added oil and vinegar, saying a lot of Huo Luguang's "non-subject" moves. Therefore, Gao Wei ordered "the annihilation of his clan." A generation of famous generals was unjustly killed in this way.

Northern Qi was thus destroyed by Northern Zhou. After Emperor Wu of Zhou destroyed Northern Qi, he once lamented, "If this person (Huo Luguang) is here, how can he reach Yi!" "

Therefore, although the ancestral family held a high position of authority in Northern Qi, it had a bad reputation.

Yang Jian replaced Northern Zhou as emperor and established the Sui Dynasty.

Zu Junyan,Zu Junyan, the son of Zu Junyan, also reached the age of becoming an official at this time. Zu Junyan had a deep friendship with Xue Daoheng, a famous minister at the time. Xue Daoheng was deeply trusted by Yang Jian, the Emperor of Sui Wen. Xue Daoheng admired Zu Junyan's talents, and on one occasion he recommended Zu Junyan to Emperor Wen of Sui. Emperor Wen of Sui asked about the man's family lineage. When he learned that Zu Junyan was Zu Junyan's son, he was surprised and said, "Is it the same Zu Junyan who wrongfully killed Huo Luguang?" I wouldn't use this kind of man's son. ("Is it evil to kill the Law of the Bright Moon?" Useless")

Zu Junyan thus had no chance to enter the center of the imperial court. He held a grudge against this and was very angry.

During the reign of the Sui Dynasty Emperor, Zu Junyan was awarded the post of Dongping Shuzuo (東平書佐) and Inspector of Sucheng (宿城). This was a very small official, and Zu Junyan couldn't look at it at all. The history books say that he is "often depressed and confused."

02, Zu Junyan "painted a portrait" for the Sui Emperor

In the last years of the Sui Dynasty, smoke was everywhere, and uprisings broke out everywhere. Among them, the Wagang Army led by Li Mi is the most well-known one. The Wagang army developed rapidly, attacking the city in all directions, and successively capturing the three granaries of Xingluo, Huiluo, and Liyang, which had the potential to shake the foundation of the Sui Dynasty.

Zu Junyan, who had an uneven heart, was not willing to become a minor official in the Sui Dynasty, so he defected to the Wagang Army. Li Mi had heard of Zu Junyan's literary talent, so he stayed by his side to plan military affairs.

Li Mi ordered him to write a letter against the Sui Emperor, and Zu Junyan vented all his dissatisfaction with the Sui Dynasty and wrote the Sui Wen, in which Zu Junyan "convicted the Sui Emperor of ten major crimes", namely: father-killing, incest, alcoholism, labor, abuse, service, conquest, abuse, abuse, betrayal, and untrustworthiness.

These ten counts almost became a foregone conclusion, and later people mentioned the Sui Emperor as such a tyrant image.

There is also such a sentence in the text, which has become a classic that will be praised in the future:

There is one here, not yet or not dead. The four dimensions are not open, the three spirits are always paralyzed, there is no small and no big, the fool is foolish, the consensus is yin, and the salt knows that the summer is gone. The bamboo of the South Mountain is not exhausted, and the sin of the book is not exhausted; the wave of the East Sea is decided, and the evil is difficult to exhaust.

This is where the idiom "bamboo is hard to read" comes from.

History does not record whether the Sui Emperor saw this text. If I had seen it, I think his back would have been cold.

03. Brutally tortured and killed by Wang Shichong

In the fourteenth year of Daye, the Wagang army and Wang Shichong's troops went to war, and were eventually defeated by Wang Shichong, the Wagang army was almost scattered, and Li Mi fled to Chang'an to join Li Yuan's Tang army. Many of the generals of the Wagang Army were captured by Wang Shichong, and Zu Junyan was one of them.

After Wang Shichong saw Zu Junyan, he scolded: "Are you enough to scold the country for the traitors?" "I guess he read the text, otherwise he wouldn't have gritted his teeth so much." Wang Shichong ordered zu Junyan to be reprimanded with a staff, and then tied him to a tree.

The talent is in trouble, and the puppies are deceived. Wang Shichong's one of the lang generals named Wang Bazhu saw zu Junyan dying and had no sympathy, and he said to the soldiers around him: "This poor man who made the pen has more than enough to die." "Say it and kick it a few times. Poor generation of scribes, just kicked to death.

After Zu Junyan's death, the brutal Wang Shichong did not understand the hatred and ordered "the corpse to be displayed to the public".
