According to local media reports in Libya quoted by the Russian Satellite Network, on the evening of December 15, local time, armed personnel occupied the headquarters of the National Unity Government and the Ministry of Defense Building in Tripoli.

On the evening of 15 December, armed men reportedly stormed the headquarters of the Government of National Unity and the Ministry of Defence building in Tripoli. The Libyan media did not disclose which group the men belonged to operating in the city.

The news also showed that parts of Tripoli had lost power.

According to previous reports, on February 5 this year, under the auspices of the United Nations, the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum meeting elected the Libyan Unified Interim Administration in Geneva, Switzerland. According to the road map released by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, Libya expects to hold presidential and parliamentary elections on 24 December. On October 5, the Libyan National Assembly decided to postpone parliamentary elections until January 2022.

After the overthrow of the Qaddafi regime in 2011, the two major forces in Libya were separated and confronted. The Government of National Unity and its armed control of the western regions of the capital, Tripoli, and other western regions are supported by Turkey, Qatar and other countries; the National Congress is allied with the "National Army" to control the eastern and central regions, the main cities in the south and some western cities, with the support of Egypt, Russia, Saudi Arabia and other countries.
