In the eighth year of Yongzheng (1730), Chen Gongyuan, a native of Shanghang, Fujian, moved into this area and became the ancestor of the Yining Chen clan. He did not expect that his decision would bring opportunities for the development of his descendants. By this time, the tide of immigration had long since passed, but the locals had been very repulsive to these immigrants. Although many immigrants have earned land and houses with their own hands and paid the grain tax every year, they have never achieved the same social status as the local indigenous people, and they cannot participate in the examination and cannot run errands. Therefore, the powerful families in the immigrants continued to play petitions, and by the third year of Yongzheng, they finally got their wish, and their children finally obtained the qualification to participate in the scientific examination.
In this context, Chen Gongyuan was determined to take the path of cultivating and reading heirlooms, while planting land, while taking the imperial examination. Although he has been unable to succeed, after more than ten years of efforts, the Chen family has become a prosperous scene. In his later years, while building the ancestral hall and worshipping his ancestors, he also chose to build a new house in the Seven Capitals of Taixiang. After the completion of the project, he happily named the new house "Fengzhu Hall" - "Gai Feng is not a sycamore, not a bamboo, not a food, a phoenix has a sign of benevolence, bamboo has a gentleman's festival, and the descendants of the future will have a benevolent righteousness by Chang Da Da Hu Men Lu." Later, his expectations became a reality.
After Chen Yuan, Chen Kesheng continued his father's career. On the one hand, he followed the family law formulated by his father to manage the domestic affairs and maintained a good family style. On the one hand, he enthusiastically participated in local public welfare, further expanding the influence of the Chen family. In the twenty-first year of Daoguang (1842), Chen Kesheng died in his hometown at the age of eighty-three.
After Chen Kesheng, his son Chen Weilin inherited his father's legacy and devoted his life to the rise of the family.
Chen Weilin, formerly known as GuiHong, character Qiuru, trumpet Zirun. When he was six or seven years old, he "already knew the great purpose of the sages", and when he was young, he was intoxicated with Yangmingxin studies, and he also mastered medicine, and he roamed Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan, Beijing and other places, "examining the mountains and rivers, schooling their hukou, choking and dangerous, in order to infer the number of gains and losses in ancient and modern times because of the revolution." After returning to his hometown, he co-founded the Tiyun Academy, where he was taught by Yanyan Mingru, and the local style of learning was renewed.
In the first year of Xianfeng, Enke Township Examination, Jiangxi admitted one hundred and twenty-four people, Yining produced five, and his son Chen Baozhen ranked 113th. Although the ranking is low, for the Chen family, who has never been a person before, the significance is extraordinary. However, Chen Weilin still maintained a rare sobriety. He made a decision to let his son temporarily postpone the entrance examination to the Beijing Association and spend three years studying. He admonished his son: "Learn to yuya." Eunuchs, vain and unresponsive, learning and abundance, regret and pursuit. "
At the same time, the Taiping Army rose. For a time, people were panicked. Chen Weilin, who is more than half a hundred years old, resolutely initiated group training in Jiangxi Province, disregarding the old and weak bodies and organizing the training of volunteers. In the spring of 1854, the Taiping Army attacked Yining. Everyone in the township is in danger, and there are countless people who drag their families and avoid them. Chen Weilin led the regiment to train soldiers to resist desperately, and finally died of overwork and illness. On the day of the burial, hundreds of people will be attended.
After Chen Weilin, Chen Baozhen threw himself into the battle to defend his homeland and led his troops to retake the city of Zhou. After the war, the imperial court rewarded the meritorious deeds, and Chen Baozhen awarded the merits to the alternate Zhi County. As the saying goes, three generations cultivate an aristocrat. After three generations of efforts by Chen Gongyuan, Chen Kesheng, and Chen Weilin's grandchildren, to Chen Baozhen's generation, the Chen family finally entered the career path.
