The historical Yang Ye is also called Yang Jiye, Yang Ye originally did not serve the Northern Song Dynasty, at the end of the Five Dynasties, Yang Ye was a famous general of the Northern Han Dynasty, and during the Northern Han Dynasty, he was called Liu Jiye.

The real Yang Liulang
After talking about the real Yang Ye, let's talk about the second generation of the Yang family generals, Yang Yanzhao is Yang Ye's sixth son in the rendition, known as Yang Liulang, but in fact, this is not the case.
Historically, Yang Ye really had seven sons, but Yang Liulang was not the sixth son but the eldest son. Because Yang Yanzhao fought bravely on the frontier, the Liao people were very afraid, so the Liao people thought that Yang Yanzhao was the reincarnation of the six stars of the Seven Stars of the Big Dipper, and was specially sent by the heavens to target the Liao, so they called him Yang Liulang.
Among Yang Ye's seven sons, except for Yang Tingyu, who was killed in battle during the Yongxi Northern Expedition, the rest of his sons were all officials in the court, and there was no legendary story like in the yanyi.
The person who really took over the banner of Yang Jiazhong's loyalty and bravery was Yang Yanzhao, whose history books say that Yang Yanzhao was silent and taciturn when he was young, and liked to play the military game of platooning and arranging troops, and Yang Ye also said:

It was a cold winter, and the scheming Yang Yanzhao thought of an excellent way to defend the city. He ordered the people to sprinkle water on the walls of the city, and overnight the whole city became an ice city.
The slippery walls made the ladders of the Liao people unstable, and eventually the Liao army had to go away in frustration.
The Battle of Suicheng achieved Yang Yanzhao's prestige, and he guarded the northern frontier of the Song Dynasty for decades, and in 1014, Yang Yanzhao died of illness at the age of fifty-seven. While lamenting this, Emperor Zhenzong of Song also let the imperial court hire his three sons.
