Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl will be the latest game to deal with a world of non-fungible tokens–NFTs. Game developer GSC Game World has announced that it will partner with NFT trading platform DMarket to use blockchain technology, which it claims will "give the player community a part of Stalker 2."
Starting this month, players can register to get items, the first special item will be available at auction and will allow the owner player to appear in the game as NPCs, which will be released on PC and Xbox Series X/S in April 2022.
GSC Game World says it will "open the metaverse bridge" and bring "a whole new digital age and a unique meta-experience that has never been experienced." The official claim: "As part of the special item series, the first ever 'meta-human' will be produced and presented to hundreds of millions of players around the world." "In the game, meta-humans will appear in the form of 'NPCs'. The game will use photogrammetry technology to reproduce the face of the real owner to achieve the highest possible degree of realism. ”
The GSC will launch a second NFT item in February, which the GSC calls the "Highly Confidential Origin Pack." The information will then be published on Twitter and Discord.
GSC Game World is the latest batch of developers and publishers to accept NFTs, though they seem to be facing considerable headwinds from players. Ubisoft recently announced plans to add NFTs to its games, but there was a backlash, with its trailer receiving more than 95 percent negative reviews.
