How far is the actual endurance from the nominal? German media review Land Rover found the sport version of the P300e

Reference news network reported on December 16 that according to the German "FrankfurtErtzer Allgemeine Zeitung" recently reported that with the rapid development of new energy vehicles, the advantages of plug-in hybrid (PHEV) have gradually been revealed - government subsidies, lower taxes. However, more importantly, PHEV models can use fuel power when running at high speeds, so there is no mileage anxiety, and the cruise consumption is lower than that of pure electric driving (electric vehicles are not energy-saving at high speed cruises). If the motor and the internal combustion engine are well matched to each other, you can even expect better fuel consumption performance than pure fuel vehicles. However, due to the large weight of the PHEV model, under the condition of pure electric driving, it consumes more electrical energy than pure electric vehicles. This is confirmed by the Land Rover Discovery Sport P300e model.

How far is the actual endurance from the nominal? German media review Land Rover found the sport version of the P300e

The Sport P300e was found to be identical in power to the Land Rover Evoque, but its larger body size also resulted in a greater weight. On paper, a power output of 309 hp (227 kW) is clearly enough for a city SUV. However, the engine with a displacement of only 1.5 liters became the physical ceiling of its torque, but in actual driving, the shortcomings of insufficient torque were masked by the motor on the rear axle and the eight-speed automatic transmission.

On the other hand, when starting the drive in an electric way, the noise control of the car is the same as that of a pure electric vehicle. Once the gasoline engine was started, the ensuing driving bumps and unwanted vibrations reflected the car's shortcomings in terms of comprehensive NVH suppression. In addition, the hoarseness of the engine's high-revving conditions seems to be neither in line with the comfortable positioning of discovering sports, nor is it a departure from Land Rover's luxurious brand tone. After all, compared with the Aurora, in the larger size of the discovery movement, the same 80 kilowatts of small displacement engine is a small horse-drawn cart.

In terms of charging endurance, the battery is nominally 15 kWh capacity, which can be fully charged in about two hours. In actual tests, the usable capacity is only 12 kWh. This results in an actual 38 km of pure electric endurance also in stark contrast to the nominal 60 km. Although this power battery is also designed to support 32 kilowatts dc fast charging, it does not seem necessary for such a small capacity power battery. According to the results of the WLTP (Global Light Vehicle Test Standard) test, it was found that the fuel consumption of the 100 km of the movement was only 2 liters. However, according to the test of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the actual fuel consumption of the P300e per 100 kilometers has exceeded 10 liters. However, considering that the car is a 7-seater 2.3-ton SUV, the fuel consumption performance is acceptable.

Although the vehicle-machine interaction system is improved compared to the Aurora, the functions lack one-off, and the cumbersome catalog increases the difficulty for users to get started. To its credit, the large spaces for discovering movement, the luxurious feel of the interior and the expansive driving views have been preserved as always. It is reported that the starting price of the newly discovered P300e in Europe is 59,000 euros (about 425,000 yuan), counting the various options, the high price can reach 73,000 euros.
