The Three Kingdoms film and television drama and the Three Kingdoms novel have deeply affected people, and everyone thinks that Lü Bu assassinated Dong Zhuo because of his beloved woman Mink Cicada, but there is no mink cicada in real history, so what happened to the real historical story? In fact, Dong Zhuo's murder was indeed related to a woman, but this woman was Dong Zhuo's maid.
The well-known mink cicada, one of the four beauties of ancient times, is not recorded in the history books. The original source of the mink cicada is in the "Three Kingdoms Zhiping Dialect", "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", etc., the mink cicada is the righteous daughter of Wang Yun, the minister of Situ in the late Eastern Han Dynasty, with white skin and beautiful skin, delicate and weak posture, and omnipotent in piano, chess, calligraphy and painting. One night, when the cicadas were admiring the moon in the back garden, the wind suddenly rose, and the clouds in the dark night covered the white and immaculate bright moon, which was just seen by the righteous father Wang Yun. Wang Yun had a plan, packaging the mink cicada as a "closed moon", mixing into Lü Bu and Dong Zhuo to lure the two to fight, first throwing himself into Dong Zhuo's arms, and then sending Lü Bu to hug him, without a shot, he could get rid of Dong Zhuo, which was simply killing two birds with one stone.
According to the records of the Zizhi Tongjian, after Dong Zhuo took over the government, he was almost the same as the emperor in terms of clothing and dress, and obviously wanted to be the emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty himself, and the officials below Shangshu had to go to Dong Zhuo's palace for approval. He was faint and cruel, and regarded the ministers of the imperial court as servants, and the ministers under him spoke slightly wrongly, and it was very likely that he would burp on the spot, causing panic among the people. As a result, Wang Yun, together with the inspector Huang Huan, the Shangshu servant Sun Rui, Yang Zhan, and others, conspired to assassinate Dong Zhuo, and Lü Bu, a zhonglang with extraordinary strength and courage, was the best candidate.
Dong Zhuo understood that he had too many enemies and was afraid of being plotted against. Therefore, wherever he went, he let Lü Bu follow him, and Lü Bu was equivalent to a personal bodyguard. Dong Zhuo initially trusted Lü Bu very much, and Lü Bu also understood this kindness and recognized Dong Zhuo as his righteous father. But Dong Zhuo's temperament is a stubborn cow, for a small matter of annoyance, he actually drew his sword and swung it at Lü Bu, fortunately Lü Bu reacted quickly, dodged a sword, and smiled and apologized to Dong Zhuo, Dong Zhuo was satisfied with letting him go. Since this incident, Lü Bu has been resentful. After that, Dong Zhuo let Lü Bu guard his inner bed, and Lü Bu, who was lustful for beauty, secretly committed adultery with one of Dong Zhuo's maids, but he was afraid that Dong Zhuo would find out that he had harmed him again, and his heart was also worried.
Wang Yun had long been optimistic that Lü Bu was the best person to kill Dong Zhuo, so he always treated Lü Bu leniently. When he heard that Lü Bu also had a grudge against Dong Zhuo, Wang Yun directly expressed his position to Lü Bu and asked Lü Bu to assassinate Dong Zhuo internally. At first, Lü Bu couldn't make up his mind, after all, Dong Zhuo was also his own righteous father, and he couldn't bear to kill. However, Wang Yun and Shisun Rui had been brainwashing lü bu, and Lü Bu finally agreed to it. But I didn't expect that this secret leaked out of the wind, and it wasn't long before someone wrote a "Lu" character on a piece of cloth, and then put it on and walked between the streets and alleys, shouting as they walked: "Cloth! In this easy-to-understand way, it is implied that Dong Zhuo is about to enter a crisis. After Dong Zhuo's men reported the matter, this did not arouse Dong Zhuo's attention and vigilance.
In the spring of 193 AD, the sick Emperor Xian of Han had just recovered, and he would see all the civil and military officials of the imperial court. When Dong Zhuo went to the imperial court to ride a horse, the horse was frightened, he did not sit still and fell from the horse into the mud and soiled the official clothes, so he returned to the palace to change his clothes again, and the wives and concubines in the family thought that the horse shock was a precursor to obscurity, and advised Dong Zhuo not to enter the Capital Dynasty. However, Dong Zhuo insisted on going to the court, and along the way ordered Lü Bu and the soldiers to protect him. When he arrived at the palace gate, the horse was once again shocked and refused to walk, and Dong Zhuo felt the hint and wanted to return. Lü Bu advised him that he should go to the upper court when he was all here, so Lü Bu took Dong Zhuo into the trap that had been set up long ago, and the military general Li Su swung his battle axe to stab Dong Zhuo, but Dong Zhuo wore iron armor and did not stab in, but his arm was injured and fell off his horse. Dong Zhuo shouted, "Lü Bu quickly came to cover!" Lü Bu replied angrily, "The edict is here to kill the thieves!" He killed Dong Zhuo with a knife, and then ordered his entourage to cut off his head. After that, Lü Bu was promoted to a higher rank, and the official treatment etiquette and three fairnesses were equal.
It can be seen here that Lü Bu's assassination of Dong Zhuo was due to the fear that Dong Zhuo would harm himself again and his hatred for Dong Zhuo, coupled with the fact that Wang Yun and others were constantly seducing him, and the beauty plan of the mink cicada did not play much role in it. The "Lü Bu playing sable cicada" circulated in later generations is just an additional fabrication of later generations. The sable cicada himself is only a figure imagined by the literati and inkers.
