It's cold, and some people's knees are more accurate than the weather forecast: as soon as the temperature drops, the knee joints are faintly painful; sleeping under a thick quilt will still feel cold legs. For this symptom of cold pain in the joints, it is commonly known as "old cold legs". Many people think that wearing more and soaking their feet can solve the problem, but it is not so simple.

What is "Old Cold Legs"

"Old cold legs" is actually a common name for knee osteoarthritis, although it has a "cold" word, but it is really not a "frozen" problem, it is a disease rooted in cartilage, and cold is only one of the triggers.

The knee joint consists of three bones, and normally, the surface of the joint bone has a transparent elastic structure called cartilage. Cartilage is like the shock spring of a car, when the joint is moving, it will deform, so that the contact area between the two bones increases, thereby reducing the wear between the joints. With age, the joint cartilage will slowly age, not only will it become thinner and brittle, but also may be broken or even large-scale peeling due to trauma. If the cartilage is worn out, it becomes a "raw grinding" between the bones and the bones when it is moved. This hard wear and tear of the joints will cause aseptic inflammation, pain, redness, joint stiffness and other symptoms, inducing knee osteoarthritis.

According to the severity of the disease, the "old cold leg" is divided into mild, moderate, and severe:

Mild manifestations are intermittent dull pain in the knee;

Moderate friction sound occurs when the knee joint is active, and some people suddenly feel that the knee joint cannot move like "locked" after sitting for a long time, and the knee joint pain is unbearable when going up and down the stairs;

Severe cases are characterized by persistent knee pain or nocturnal pain, or even enlarged knee deformation.

"Old cold legs" with an "old" word, mostly considered to be a common disease of old age, but in recent years, it has become a common disease of young people after 80 and 90. Especially now that young people are more and more overweight, the more weight the knee joint bears, the greater the chance of cartilage wear. For women, often wear high heels to walk, the damage to the joints is also very large, coupled with the weak strength of the leg muscles, it is easy to induce "old cold legs". In addition, drivers, heavy manual workers, athletes, models, etc., due to occupational reasons, lead to knee joint wear and tear, but also easy to induce "old cold legs".

How to relieve symptoms of discomfort

When the "old cold leg" occurs, patients often have symptoms such as joint stiffness, pain, and chills, which greatly affects the personal state, in addition to seeking medical treatment in time, you can also alleviate the discomfort symptoms at home through the following methods.

Take the seat, put your hands on your knees, and do the following in turn:

1

The palms of both hands are on the knees, and while the hands are holding the knees, they are massaged, and the surroundings of the kneecaps are massaged outwards for 36 times, and then massaged inwards for 36 turns, so that there is a feeling of heat in the knee joint.

2

The tip of both thumbs presses the inner knee eyes on both sides 10 times, and then on both sides of the outer knee eyes 10 times.

3

Use the tip of your thumb to find tender spots around the edge of your kneecap, and tap on the tender spots, pressing each tender point 5 to 10 times.

It should be reminded that not all leg pain is "old cold legs", rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis these two diseases can also lead to leg pain, so once the symptoms of leg pain, do not delay, hurry to the regular hospital to diagnose and treat.
