"In costume dramas, we can often see ancient women wearing elegant and gorgeous costumes and wearing exquisite headdresses, which can't help but make us feel the development of ancient handicraft technology." Yang Zhishui, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, reveals the rich connotations of ancient headdresses, such as hairpins, plutonium, flower tin, step shake, comb grate... Ancient women's headdresses varied. She introduced that the step shake is a headdress that has been circulating since the Song Ming Dynasty, and its shape and texture are symbols of rank and status, mostly in the style of phoenix, butterfly, dragon phoenix, etc., with tassels or pendants hanging down, and swinging with the pace when walking. Sun Ji, a professor at Beijing Fashion Institute and an archaeologist of cultural relics, proposed that ancient Chinese costume culture is an important part of China's traditional culture and carries a long and timeless cultural connotation. However, at present, the public's lack of understanding of ancient costumes has led to the emergence of ancient costumes and costumes that are inconsistent with historical facts in modern paintings, architecture, and film and television works. "This greatly weakened the charm of ancient Chinese costumes." He hoped that this forum could lead teachers and students to get out of the misunderstanding of historical cognition from multiple levels of literature, images and technology, and promote the in-depth development of ancient Chinese costume research.
It is reported that at the beginning of 2021, the National Museum of China's "Exhibition of Ancient Chinese Costume Culture" was opened, and one of the highlights of the exhibition - 15 restored portraits and costumes from past dynasties was completed by the Guobo curatorial team and the Beijing Institute of Fashion Team, which lasted two years. The exhibition exhibits nearly 130 pieces (sets) of cultural relics, covering jade ware, bone ware, pottery figurines, clothing, gold and silver accessories and calligraphy and painting works, showing the evolution of ancient Chinese costumes.
Jia Ronglin, president of Beijing Institute of Fashion, said that the forum is the second joint effort between the National Museum of China and the Beijing Institute of Fashion after the "Exhibition of Ancient Chinese Costume Culture".
