The old man's name was Chen Jieru. She was Chiang Kai-shek's ex-wife.
Chiang Kai-shek was a prominent figure who had long served as the number one of the Central Military Commission. Chiang Kai-shek served as commander-in-chief of the army, navy, and air force, president of the Kuomintang, chairman of the Military Commission, and president of the Republic of China.
Chiang Kai-shek had four wives and concubines: Mao Fumei, a concubine named Yao Yecheng, Chen Jieru, and a wife song Meiling.
On December 1, 1927, Chiang Kai-shek married Soong Mei-ling.
Before marrying Song Meiling, old Jiang issued a statement: Mao's wife had long been divorced; Yao Chen's second concubine had no contract.
The "Chen" in "Yao Chen's Second Concubine" refers to Chen Jieru.
Chen Jieru was born in Shanghai in 1905. Her father was a small businessman and her mother was a native of Suzhou.
Chen Jieru has been well educated since childhood. She is gentle and kind, generous, intelligent, good at playing chess, and knows English and speaks Russian. When she grew up, she worked as an elementary school teacher, a nurse, and a job at Changsantangzi.
In 1919, through Zhang Jingjiang's introduction, the 32-year-old Chiang Kai-shek became acquainted with the 14-year-old Chen Jieru.
After that, Chiang Kai-shek fell in love with Chen Jieru at first sight and began to pursue her fiercely.
On December 5, 1921, Chiang Kai-shek and Chen Jieru held a wedding ceremony in the Dadong Hotel of the Yong'an Building in Shanghai.
When they got married, Chiang Kai-shek gave Chen Jieru a Kodak camera, and Chen Jieru gave Chiang Kai-shek a gold pocket watch with a gold chain. After the marriage, Chiang Kai-shek took Chen Jieru back to his hometown in Fenghua Xikou many times to worship his ancestors.
Chen Jieru and Chiang Kai-shek, the two lived together for six years, and their feelings were very deep.
However, the good times did not last long. In 1927, Chiang Kai-shek, out of consideration for the political future of the marriage between Chiang and Song, made the decision to marry Soong Mei-ling and interrupted his marriage to Chen Jieru.

After the Outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Chiang Kai-shek instructed Gu Zhutong, commander of the Third Theater, to escort Chen Jieru to Chongqing. Chen Jieru lives in songpo forest villa, not far from Chiang Kai-shek's "forest garden" official residence.
After Chen Jieru came to Chongqing, Chiang Kai-shek felt guilty about his years of snubbing his ex-wife. Therefore, he secretly went to Songpo forest villa many times without Song Meiling to reunite and reunite with his ex-wife.
Chiang Kai-shek thought that no one knew about this, but he did not expect to be discovered by Kong Lingwei (also known as Kong Lingjun), the second miss of Kong.
Kong Lingwei immediately reported to his aunt Song Meiling. Song Meiling was furious and immediately took Miss Kong Er in a small car and rushed straight to songlinpo villa.
After seeing Chen Jieru, Song Meiling was full of anger. She made a big fuss and slapped her in the face, accusing Chen Jie of being chaotic.
Chen Jieru covered her face and cried, shouting angrily to Song Meiling, "It's all you!" It was you (Chiang Kai-shek) who sent me away. You are the first to intervene between us, you are the bad guy, you are the third person who destroyed me and Mr. Jiang! ”
Hearing this, Song Meiling's look changed drastically, and her body trembled with anger. Miss Kong Er immediately drew her pistol and said, "Auntie, what do you have to do with her?" Let me shoot her! ”

After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Chen Jieru returned to Shanghai.
In 1949, Chen Jieru, under the persuasion of her son-in-law Lu Jiuzhi, chose to stay in Shanghai and start a new life.
In 1962, Chen Jieru moved to Hong Kong, China, and changed her name to Chen Lu.
On February 11, 1971, Chen Jie died unexpectedly at the age of 66.
