John Legend
The story of "Phantom of the Opera" is being adapted into a new contemporary film called Phantom, set in a move from the Paris Opera House to the French Quarter of New Orleans. Universal Pictures has purchased a script written by John Fosk, and singer and actor John Legend (City of Philharmonic) will direct the film.
Phantom of the Opera has a long history in the musical theater world, but it originally originated from a 1911 novel published by the French writer Gaston Le Roux, which tells a "ghost story" that takes place at the Paris Opera: the masked ugly who lives in the opera house unfortunately falls in love with a talented rising star actress and secretly commits a series of crimes.

The story was later adapted by Andrew Lloyd Webber into a 1986 musical of the same name, which moved to Broadway in 1988 and became the longest-lived performance in Broadway history, along with Cats, Miss Saigon, and Les Misérables.
