Although Qualcomm and Microsoft tried arm PCs earlier than Apple, they did not make waves in the market because of insufficient application optimization and low compilation efficiency. On the contrary, the rising star Apple has made a splash with its advantages in M1 and the integration of software and hardware.
A few days ago, Stephen Shanklan upgraded an M1 Max +32GB memory version of the 16-inch new MacBook Pro, he was curious about the value of his money spent, so he took it out for the first time and compared it with the 16-inch MBP (6-core Core i7) 2 years ago.
First of all, from the experience, Shanklan feels that whether it is loading web pages, sliding browsing, TouchID unlocking, etc., there is a significant speed improvement.
Then there is adobe lightroom, his commonly used post-photo software, taking the synthesis of 6 30 million pixel RAW photos as an example, M1 Max MBP takes 14 seconds, i7 MBP takes 67 seconds, and the speed difference is 4.8 times. Even for the smallest test (synthesizing three 30-megapixel RAW to HDR), the M1 Max was 12 seconds, the i7 was 22 seconds, and the latter took 1.9 times longer.

Although the i7 version of MBP has been available for two years, Adobe Lightroom has been optimized quickly since the advent of the M1 Max, including adapting its unified memory architecture (reducing the repetitive replication of call data by THE CPU\GPU) and freeing up the computing power of AI units.
After some testing, Shanklan thought he was worth $3,500 (about 22,000 yuan) for the new MBP, and the old i7 eventually discounted $1,350.
