Before he ascended the throne, his internal and external troubles made him concerned about the situation in the DPRK and had a greater impact on his handling of government affairs after he ascended the throne. Relying on the best efforts of Gao Gong, Chen Yiqin, Zhang Juzheng, and other ministers, he implemented a new policy of reforming maladies and implementing new policies, and achieved great governance at home and abroad, which is known as the Longqing New Deal. However, because he is addicted to flattering drugs, he also takes these flattering drugs to help him, resulting in absurd political affairs. In the first ten years of Zhu Yijun's reign, Zhang Juzheng, the first assistant of the cabinet, presided over government affairs, and with the support of Emperor Shenzong, a series of reform measures were implemented, and the social economy developed greatly. During this period, he presided over the famous Three Great Marches of the Wanli Dynasty and consolidated the territory of the Han family. In the later period of his reign, the state operation was almost stopped, and the Ming Dynasty gradually declined. On July 21, 1620, in the forty-eighth year of the Wanli Calendar, the Mingshen Sect collapsed, at the age of 56, and the temple number was Shenzong.

During Zhu Youxiao's reign, Keshi and Wei Zhongxian monopolized power and created unjust prisons such as "Yi Ugly Zhao Prison" and "Ying Yin Zhao Prison", and brutally persecuted the Donglin Party members who tried to reform the politics of the Ming Dynasty. Killing Liaodong jingxiong Tingbi led to the later Jin attack on Shenyang and Liaoyang, and the situation in Liaodong became increasingly severe. After succeeding to the throne, the Chongzhen Emperor vigorously eradicated the castration party, was diligent in government affairs, lived frugally, and committed six sins against himself, and was a young and promising emperor. Unfortunately, he was suspicious by nature and could not save the declining Ming Dynasty.
