On the same day, the 2021 Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs Purple Mountain Summit was held in Nanjing. Pei Jinjia, who attended the summit, said in his speech that under the strong guidance of the mainland's economic growth, cross-strait economic and trade cooperation has continued to grow. From January to October 2021, cross-strait trade volume increased by 27.8 percent year-on-year, hitting a record high in the same period of history; the enthusiasm of Taiwan compatriots to invest in the mainland has not diminished, the gold content has increased, and the overall production and operation of Taiwan enterprises on the mainland have been stable. Strengthening cross-strait economic cooperation is conducive to giving play to the complementary advantages of both sides and bringing more benefits to compatriots on both sides of the strait.
"We will unswervingly expand cross-strait economic and trade cooperation, deepen cross-strait integration and development, actively support Taiwan compatriots and Taiwan enterprises in participating in the implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan, let Taiwan businessmen and Taiwan enterprises share more development opportunities, enjoy more equal treatment, and get better service guarantees on the mainland, so that the vast number of compatriots on the island can benefit more through cross-strait economic and trade." Pei Jinjia said that since the beginning of this year, in the face of a complex and changeable internal and external environment, the mainland has based on a new stage of development, implemented the new development concept, accelerated the construction of a new development pattern, focused on promoting high-quality development, and strengthened and improved economic development in a stable manner, showing strong resilience and abundant vitality. In the first three quarters, the gross domestic product increased by 9.8% year-on-year, and the added value of industries above designated size and the total retail sales of social consumer goods achieved double-digit growth.
Since its establishment, the Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs Summit has successfully held 8 annual meetings, and has achieved fruitful results in deepening cross-strait industrial mutually beneficial cooperation, close cross-strait enterprise exchanges and docking, and promoting youth employment and entrepreneurship in Taiwan, and is a very influential platform for cross-strait economic cooperation and exchanges.
