It is reported that the E27 pipe section is the deep middle channel immersed pipe tunnel poured the largest amount of concrete, the largest number of compartments of the pipe joint, after the pouring of about 80,000 tons, its displacement is equivalent to a heavy aircraft carrier. After docking, the E27 pipe joint will be installed early next year.

Following the completion of the installation of the E29 pipe section floating at the end of November, the poly long-deep middle channel S08 contract section project has been carried out non-stop to carry out the E27 pipe joint docking construction. At 8:00 p.m. on December 6, the 80,000-ton E27 pipe joint began to move slowly, and after 3 hours of continuous operation, the E27 pipe joint was smoothly twisted out of the dock, and then rotated 90 degrees in the harbor pool into the bottom storage area.

The E27 pipe joint of the dock is the first section of the S08 contract section of the deep middle channel "overweight, ultra-long" standard steel shell immersed pipe section, compared with the previous times to dock non-standard pipe joint, E27 pipe joint increased by more than 40 meters, increased by nearly 20,000 tons, the difficulty of docking only increased; E27 pipe section draft of more than 10 meters, the wet surface is active, there will be strong resistance during the pulling process; coupled with the low construction temperature at night in winter, low visibility of operation, complex construction environment, the high tide time that can be used for docking is shorter. In order to ensure the smooth docking of the pipe joint, the engineering technology and construction personnel of the Guangzhou Salvage Bureau have formulated a detailed and scientific construction plan for this purpose, simplifying and optimizing the docking action as much as possible under the premise of ensuring the safety of the pipe joint, and the list of each work to be inspected is listed to ensure the safety of the pipe joint in the dock water injection and docking process.

"The increased difficulty of docking this time and the constant total working hours have once again verified the maturity and reliability of our pipe joint docking technology." Jiang Zhibin, on-site construction manager of the Guangzhou Salvage Bureau, who is responsible for the docking of immersed pipes, said. It is reported that the E27 pipe section will be installed early next year.

The E27 pipe section is the sixth pipe section at the eastern end of the deep-middle channel immersed tube tunnel and the first standard pipe section prefabricated for this section. The pipe joint is 165 meters long, 10.6 meters high and 46 meters wide, and adopts a rectangular double-layer steel shell + "sandwich" composite structure filled with high-flowing self-compacting concrete, and is poured from dense concrete for about 29,300 square meters. "The E27 pipe section is the pipe section with the largest amount of concrete poured and the largest number of compartments in the deep and medium channel immersed tube tunnel, weighing about 80,000 tons after pouring, and its displacement is equivalent to a heavy aircraft carrier."
