This landscape eight yan screen is a fine piece of Qi Lao, as we all know, the brick screen is a high-grade indoor literary room elegant play, very people can have. At the same time, this group of works uses many painting methods, showing the painting methods of many different eras and schools of ancient Chinese traditional painting, and also showing the profound artistic skills of Qi Lao, which can be the crystallization of his classical painting art.

In the early Han Dynasty, solid ink had appeared in large quantities, but there was no ready-made ink until the Qing Dynasty. They are all ground with solid ink and water, but the ink retained for a little longer, it is easy to dry and lose water. At this time, if a screen is placed in front of the ink, it can prevent the wind from blowing and slow down the loss of ink moisture, which is the original function of the brick screen. It is also used to avoid the glare of candlelight projection. The materials are mostly made of jade, ceramics, ivory, clay, lacquer and other raw materials. The Song Dynasty Zhao Xihu said in the "Dongtian Qinglu Collection": "The ancient No Yan screen, or Ming Yan, is engraved on the bottom and side of the study." From the eastern slope and valley, the brick screen was made, which was not only inscribed in the research, but also engraved on the screen, and came out with a table. "Dongtian Qinglu Yanping Discernment" also yun: "The style of the screen stops with a foot height of one or two inches, and a width of five or six inches, which is commensurate with Xiaoyan." If it is large, it is not appropriate. According to this, it can be seen that the specifications of the brick screen should be appropriate to the size of the brick. Considering that in the Song and Ming dynasties, the literati used 7-8 inches in size, and the Qing Dynasty literati used 6-7 inches in size, and the brick screen should be slightly larger than this size.

With the passage of time, the decorative nature of the Yanping screen gradually increased, becoming a scenery on the desk of the literati and scholars. Especially with the prevalence of epigraphy in the late Ming Dynasty to the Republic of China, Yanping began to appear in large numbers of painting and writing inscriptions, and gradually derived into multiple fans, less than four fans, more than eight fans, and the number of calligraphy and painting strip screens, in fact, is a miniature version of the desk painting vertical axis furnishings, and the odd stone to replace the rockery, its screen core size is about seven inches in length, two inches horizontal, and the size of today's bookmarks, in this inch of extremely difficult to paint, very human. Those who can independently complete multiple fans are even more masters, after all, they must avoid repetition in composition, but also have to display brush and ink kung fu in a diversified way, so they can be regarded as the top sketches of famous painters in previous generations.

These eight fans are rigorously written, lightly colored, and distinguished between square inches, and one of the titles is: "Wanfeng Yunqi Teacher Fang Jug." Fang Fang Juror, the late Yuan Daoist Fang Congyiye. He is good at painting, and also works poetry and calligraphy. At the beginning of the landscape, Dong Yuan, Ju Ran, and Mi Fu learned the methods of Zhao Mengfu and Gao Kegong. I like to paint Yunshan ink plays, and the scenery under his pen is mostly cold and lonely, claustrophobic, and there are few places in the world, high mountains and strange peaks, deep valleys and streams, old trees and old houses, and wild water lonely boats, giving people a deep, peculiar and tragic feeling. Huang Binhong commented on his paintings: "The brilliant person of Gai Xuexian is invisible and tangible, although it is tangible, it is ultimately invisible. "Mr. Qi Gong is the best at Yun Shan

The second title is: "The Corner of The Cloud Mountain of Shimi Hu'er". Mi Hu'er, the son of Mi Fu, Mi Yu Ren ya, was born in the year of Jiayin, so he was named Tiger Er. Painting inherits the family learning, mostly dyed with ink spots, heavy intentions do not seek detailed work, the development of rice plant with falling eggplant as the representative of the landscape technique, laid the foundation for the "Mi's Cloud Mountain" special way of expression. The so-called "falling eggplant" is actually a kind of freehand painting method that replaces the dots, with round and solemn horizontal points staggered and arranged, connecting the dots into lines, replacing the dots with dots, accumulating dots into pieces, splashing, breaking, accumulating, staining, dry and wet at the same time, supplemented by rendering the image of the mountains, trees and clouds. The traditional method of hook-and-dot rubbing is completely abandoned. Qi Gong is the most infiltrated by this kind of painting method, and can be easily transformed with water and ink, which also lays a solid foundation for the balance of ink and water in future calligraphy.

Its third title is: "Pseudo-Zhao ShanChang Method". Zhao Shan's elder, Zhao Yuanye at the end of the Yuan and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty. The real name Yuan, after entering the Ming Dynasty, was changed to the original because of avoiding Zhu Yuanzhang's secrets, and the character is good and long, and the number is Danlin. Good at landscape and water, teachers Dong Yuan and Wang Meng, pen and ink round and beautiful. It is also good at painting bamboo, and the painting method is changeable, known as dragon horn, phoenix tail and golden wrong knife. There are not many works passed down from generation to generation, the original "Xiting Autumn Color Map" in the palace is a scroll, which is the old collection of the Inner House, and the Shiqu Baodi is re-compiled, and after the Forbidden City was opened to the public, it was exhibited, and Mr. Qi Gong also studied.

Its fourth title is: "Pseudo-Yuanren Penmanship". The painting of the Yuan Dynasty was originally dominated by landscape painting, and its creative ideas, artistic pursuits, and stylistic outlook all reflected the main tendencies of the painting world and had the most profound influence on future generations. Whether it is Qian Xuan, Zhao Mengfu, Gao Kegong in the early stage, or Huang Gongwang, Wang Meng, Wu Zhen, and Ni Zhan in the middle and late period, they mainly inherit the traditions of Dong Yuan and Juran, and in their respective innovative styles and concise and detached artistic techniques, they have developed Chinese landscape painting to a new stage and become the mainstream of the development of landscape painting in this period.

Its five inscriptions are: "Imitation ishida pen". Ishida, i.e. Shen Zhou. Shen Zhousheng read at home, wrote poetry and painting, traveled to LinQuan, pursued spiritual freedom, did not respond to the examination, always engaged in the creation of calligraphy and painting, had his own creation on the basis of the teacher Of the Song and Yuan Dynasties, developed the expression technique of literati ink painting landscape, and became the leader of the Wumen School of Painting. Some of the landscape paintings he has made depict the mountains and rivers, showing the three distant scenes of traditional landscape painting. Most of the works depict the southern landscape and garden scenes, showing the leisurely interest of the literati life at that time. Mr. Qi Gong's frame imitates the characteristics of his concise composition, dignified pen, thick pen and ink, and hastily formed, and expresses the scenery of three distances in between inches, which can be described as a small and large work.

Its six titles are: "Far Ura Returns to sail". The Southern Song Dynasty Muxi once had this hand scroll of the same name, and the background mood is so. Later Inner Province Dong Bangda has eight ancient books, and there is a Yuanpu Guifan opening, and the meaning of this painting should originate from the Dong family.

Its seven inscriptions are: "Spring River Sunset Illumination".

Its eight titles are: "Mountain Residence Map", all of which are Yuanren style, Spring River Sunset Illumination is slightly similar to Ni Huang, and Mountain Residence Map Master Fa Ou Bo.

From this group of brick screens, we can see that Mr. Qi Gong has learned from the ancients and collected the artistic path of the many, as we all know, imitating the paintings of the sages and experiencing the method of writing the shapes of the previous generations of painters, is a stepping stone for his own later creation, and is also a standard for the art garden passed down from generation to generation. Is an indispensable step for traditional painters to lay the foundation, after some success and then form their own painting method, and then gradually grow into a generation of famous artists, the older generation of painters are so step by step, so the older generation of famous artists have a relatively deep imitation of ancient skills, this piece of Yan screen eclectic, showing the art of the old man's life, is a rare treasure. Moreover, as far as the existing information is concerned, mr. Qi Gong independently completed only three of the eight brick screens, and the other two were sold overseas, and the whereabouts are unknown. So it's not surprising that it sells at a high price.
