It is understood that the predecessor of the Happiness Building is the "Gorgeous City Restaurant" built in 1987, and the owner is Wu Hanlong, a famous overseas Chinese leader in Paris. At the end of 2012, Chen Dongxiao and Hu Yan, the owners of the Fuxinglou chain restaurant from Wenzhou, Zhejiang and France, took over and officially opened after changing their name to "Happiness Building". Since its opening, they have inherited the original Cantonese cuisine characteristics of the restaurant, integrated with other cuisines, and become one of the representative restaurants in Paris. It is not only a restaurant, but also holds exhibitions, reading clubs and other cultural activities, French politicians also hold election campaigns here, restaurants also organize meetings with politicians, etc., becoming a platform for exchanges between Eastern and Western cultures, French politics and the public. It is also an important place for overseas Chinese to hold celebrations and receive visitors.

In order to keep pace with the times, in 2020, after the outbreak of the epidemic, Chen Dongxiao and his wife decided to renovate the interior to make it more in line with the trend of modern people. The hall can accommodate more than 400 people to eat at the same time, and can also be divided into private rooms of different sizes, so that diners have a private space, which is more pragmatic in the current epidemic era.

The main change after the renovation is the improvement of the dishes. The restaurant is still dominated by Hong Kong-style Cantonese cuisine, and strives for excellence in the selection of ingredients and cooking. Chen Dongxiao said that becoming the leader of Chinese food in Paris is the original intention and consistent pursuit of happiness building.
