Founded in 2017, the Chengdu Marathon has rapidly increased in scale and international influence in recent years, winning the 2018 China Athletics Association "Silver Medal Event" and the "Most Beautiful Track" Award of the special event, and was shortlisted in the top ten of the 2019 China's most influential marathon events released by the People's Network, gradually becoming a high-quality brand event in Chengdu and even the central and western regions. In May 2019, the Chengdu Marathon became a candidate for the World Marathon Grand Slam Federation (WMM), the only World Grand Slam candidate in China.
According to the "2018 Marathon Media Exposure Value Report" released earlier by market research firm Nielsen, the report selected large-scale marathon events in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Chengdu, compared with the media exposure time and media value of all sponsors of the six marathon events, the Chengdu Marathon ranked first with a total length of 12 hours, 12 minutes and 7 seconds and a total media value of 27.1 million.
