Director Xu Ang brought Jing Hao Lu Fang Li Yue to bring a different "Lover"

Beijing Renyi, which was suspended some time ago, will usher in a new curtain restart, not only the originally planned "Li Bai" and "Wilderness" will return to the stage in the near future, but also the new typeset "Lover" directed by Xu Ang and starring Lu Fang, Jing Hao and Li Yue will be staged as the first re-enactment play at the Beijing Renyi Experimental Theater from November 27.

Lover is the work of Norbert Literary Prize winner Harold Pinter, which premiered in Beijing Renyi in 2004. The play is different from the expression of traditional realist drama, with a seemingly absurd story and a plot design full of symbolic meaning, so that the audience can feel a strong drama between reality and fiction. The play was Xu Ang's first work directed by Renyi in Beijing 17 years ago. This year, after personal growth and re-examination of the work, Xu Ang will set off again with the new "Lover" to lead the audience to feel the new interpretation of the stage of this foreign masterpiece. Xu Ang used "to simplify complexity" to describe his creative philosophy. In his opinion, compared with his original creation, this time he wanted to get rid of more technical things, showing a more pure perspective of the people in the play.

"More than a decade ago, when I first read this script, I didn't understand it, and I didn't quite understand the emotions expressed in the script. But this time to direct this play, it should be closer to the original appearance of this text, which is also the look I want most. Xu Ang, who has experience in the localization of many foreign works in recent years, said that the rearrangement will make new explorations and attempts: "The script has very life-like lines, which can neither be complicated nor exaggerated. By re-translating the script, I maintained the unique linguistic face of the author. Xu Ang believes that an important reason why the author won the Nobel Prize in Literature is his use of language, through the corresponding translation between short sentences and short sentences in the play, taking into account the ideography and rhythm of language, so that Chinese audiences can recognize and understand the original appearance of this work.

"There are more possibilities in the small theater itself." Xu Ang, who is also the stage designer, will also use the point light source in life to replace some stage lighting effects, create a real life scene, and strive to bring a new dramatic experience to the audience. "We almost copied the floor plan of a family in the theater, which gave the audience a feeling of 'peeping' or 'peeking at a movie clip'." ”

Jing Hao and Lu Fang, outstanding actors of Beijing Renyi who have been working together for many years, play the male protagonist Richard and the heroine Sarah respectively, which is the first time they have performed a small theater drama together, and it is also the first time to cooperate with Xu Ang in a drama, so they are full of confidence in this cooperation, but also have a lot of freshness and expectations. Jing Hao and Lu Fang said: "This work is very difficult and requires full tacit understanding and trust between the actors. Director Xu Ang's artistic approach is very interesting, and it is different from the directors we have worked with before, so the whole rehearsal process, although time-consuming, is very pleasant.
