Wu Changshuo is 20 years older than Qi Baishi. When he was young, his family was poor, and his father Wu Xinjia was a reader who liked to rule seals and taught him to read and engrave seals from an early age. Legend has it that he began to learn to paint at the age of 50.
When Wu Changshuo visited Ren Bonian, he wrote several stone drum texts on the paper, and after Ren Bonian read them, he said: "In the future, your achievements will definitely surpass mine."
Calligraphy has always been the inner cultivation of literati painting, just like painting oil painting must first learn to draw, so Wu Changshuo's golden stone into the painting road is natural.

Wu Changshuo transformed the lines with the meaning of gold and stone into freehand vine branches, and inscribed long poems, integrating poems, books, paintings and prints into one, forming a unique painting paradigm.
This style had a great influence on white stone alignment. Master Chen had instructed Qi Baishi to learn from Wu Changshuo, and there was a relationship between them. But according to Qi Baishi's good friend Hu Peiheng, Qi Baishi never met with Wu Changshuo in his lifetime. Qi Baishi only repeatedly wrote and speculated about Wu Changshuo's paintings, and did not get Wu Changshuo's personal guidance, it can be said that Qi Baishi "remote master" Wu Changshuo.
Wu Changshuo is accustomed to taking oblique, sideways, and conforming to the growth trend of plants, showing the vitality of spraying out. Nearly 30% of his works take the composition of flowers and stones, which looks elegant and heavy.
