02. Geographical location and climate
CMU is located in the university town of Pittsburgh, far from the city center, but the surrounding dining and entertainment can also meet the needs, but shopping is not very convenient. 03. Transportation facilities
The traffic in the university town is not bad, and there will be some traffic in the city. CMU's tuition fee of 90 yuan per semester includes a bus fee, and students can use their student card to take the bus. There is a botanical garden and a park next to the school, so you can go boating, cycling, or go rafting by car. There are many recreational facilities, and there are Chinese KTV within walking distance of the school, as well as playgrounds and secret rooms. Take the bus to the business district for about ten minutes, to the hypermarket, cinema for about half an hour.
05. Canteen and surrounding restaurants
The price of the canteen is relatively moderate, with an average of about 7 or 8 knives. Basically every building in the school has one or two large canteens, rich in dishes, including Chinese food, Korean food, Italian food and so on. Freshmen will have a meal plan, and there are also Chinese food, Japanese food, Korean food, etc. off-campus. Every day at noon, there are Chinese restaurant owners who drive to sell box lunches. The school does not have a large dining hall, it is all a small stall, a total of twenty, but the dishes have not changed. There are many Chinese restaurants around the school, from Hong Kong-style restaurants to Chongqing restaurants. Pittsburgh has also been named one of the most livable cities in the United States in the past two years, and students who like to eat can go to Yelp (similar to dianping) to search for nearby restaurants. There are many Chinese supermarkets and fresh markets in the city, and it is also very convenient to buy and cook at home.
06. Dormitory conditions
School dormitories are divided into general dorms (such as Donner) and apartment-style dormitories (such as Residence on Fifth, or REZ for short). There are single, double, triple rooms in the general dormitories. The advantage of the dormitory is that it is close to the place where the classes are held, and there is no need to get up very early; the apartment style is far from the teaching area, but there is a kitchen equipped. Roommates for on-campus housing can choose to be randomly assigned or designated by themselves. In addition to the difference in distance and room type, each dormitory has different aspects in terms of whether there is air conditioning, whether there is an elevator, the size of the room, and the new and old of the dormitory building. Freshmen generally must live in a dormitory, unless there are special circumstances that can apply. There are a couple of nice apartments off campus, some agreements with the school, and there are also school bus transfers.
07. Strong disciplines
Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering go without saying. In addition, the art of drama and design is also very strong, and the architecture and business undergraduates are ranked in the top 10 in the United States.
08. Curriculum
Compulsory courses and elective courses depend on different majors, but everyone has to take writing courses of different difficulties according to the results of the language test before admission, the primary is 76100, the advanced is 76101, in addition to the general each college will recommend or even require some programming classes
There will be about 100-200 people in the introductory class, and as the difficulty increases, the class capacity will become smaller and smaller. Professional courses are generally about 30-40 people, and there are also small classes for two or three people. Professional courses are still mainly based on teachers, and general studies classes will be more discussed.

There are not many graduate students, and at most it is 4+1 five years to bring a graduate student out. But if you want to stay in CMU for graduate school, many colleges will give students some benefits, and they can go to a certain GPA. Relatively speaking, the employment of CS is indeed very good, and there will be many IT companies participating in the school's career fair, and there are many opportunities to communicate with top IT companies. The vast majority of students graduate and go to Silicon Valley.
