On November 15, PPG (NYSE: PPG) announced that it had won the 2021 Carnegie Prize in the Corporate Leadership category at its 25th Annual Celebration in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on November 5, 2021.

"The Carnegie Prize for Science recognizes the achievements of creative and visionary people in Pittsburgh's science, technology, and education communities and provides them with the opportunity to meet and share stories," said Jason Brown, Henry Buhl, Jr., director of the Carnegie Center for Science. "These individuals and companies are making incredible contributions to their fields and have a direct impact on the health, growth and economic vitality of our entire region."

A peer committee of past winners and industry leaders was rigorously vetted to select winners from eight award categories. The Business Leadership Award recognizes companies or teams/individuals who have made significant achievements in manufacturing and materials processes, biomedical or life sciences, and/or information technology that have brought significant economic or social benefits to western Pennsylvania.

David Bem, vice president and chief technology officer of PPG Technologies, accepted the award on behalf of PPG at the 25th Carnegie Prize for Science. Bem serves on the Museum Advisory Board at the Carnegie Center for Science.

"We are honored to be recognized by our peers for our leadership in innovation, sustainability, and color, and our commitment to meeting the needs of the Pittsburgh area through initiatives such as science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, COVID-19 relief, social justice, and employee volunteering." Bem said.

In addition to celebrating the winners, the event raised funds to support the Carnegie Center for Science's educational program to develop the next generation of science and technology leaders.
