I read Dream of the Red Chamber in 1974 and read this strange book as a novel from the beginning. Now, I still turn it over from time to time, or treat it as a novel, and feel that this great literary work has endless charm.
However, when I read "Dream of the Red Chamber", the mainstream view was to treat this novel as a political novel, about class struggle. Therefore, regarding Cao Xueqin's family lineage, Jiangning weaving Cao family archives historical materials are also published. Curious, I bought a copy at Xinhua Bookstore, read a few pages, and felt uninteresting. For example, there is a recital in which the imperial court summons Cao Yin to Beijing, and Cao Yin reports to Yongzheng on the date of the trip and tells the emperor that he has brought a set of newly engraved Tang poems. Yongzheng: Got it. For experts who study "Dream of the Red Chamber", there may be some subtle meaning in this recital, but I am an ordinary reader, one of the thousands of readers who only read "Dream of the Red Chamber" as a novel; I am not interested in such Cao family historical materials. What I am interested in is that Yongzheng does not have cumbersome instructions, and only uses the three words "know" to efficiently handle an official document. Decades have passed, and the "Historical Materials on the Archives of the Cao Family of Jiangning Weaving" is still in my study, and I have memorized three words.
Many years ago, a friend disposed of his collection of books and singled out several discarded ones to see if I wanted; I picked out several photocopies of Qing Dynasty emperors in his discarded collection, including the "Yongzheng Emperor's Imperial Approval Of Authentic Works". Of course, I was interested in the old books that people abandoned me, not because I wanted to be emperor, but because I wanted to see what the real imperial approvals looked like, which were received as cultural materials.
This kind of photocopied book, I think, is also written for readers like me. Those who understand the study of history will look at the originals and will not pay attention to such books. This set of books returned to me, I read it, and finally saw the true face of the emperor's royal approval. On one of the folds of Inspector Nian Xiyao of Guangdong, Yongzheng commented: "Got it." Everything is always at stake. The big husband Han, who earned it himself, is really decent. Mian Zhi. "Nian Xiyao's fold is to thank the emperor. He said that he had received a letter from his father, knowing that his sister had been made a noble concubine, which was the honor of the family, and he set up an incense case at the yamen, led his family to "look at the que and prostrate his head in thanksgiving", and then stated: "The slave is only useful and encouraged, cautious, and the reward is thicker than the ear." Yongzheng's criticism, although he "knows", there is also an admonition to the slaves, telling him: Don't think that your sister has been crowned a noble concubine, you think that there is a patron in the dynasty (everything is always impossible), and you have to earn merit for yourself. Only by relying on oneself is the dignity of being an official. Yongzheng "knew" and spoke intimately to the slaves, with love in his majesty. Not everyone can get such royal approval. "Slave talent" is a kind of status and value, you want to be a slave, you don't have that qualification yet.
At that time, I bought a research historical material for reading "Dream of the Red Chamber", and now I only remember three words, and this book is not a vain purchase, because these three words connect the royal batch of authentic works and increase my knowledge.
Now, we live in the information age, and we often hear people say that he or she is "too tired to live." I think that "living too tired" is not to go to the dock to carry sacks, sweat a lot to get tired, but the mind is stuffed with too much junk information. A mobile phone that does not want to leave the body for a moment, constantly instilling a variety of information, information overload, how can not be tired? My advice is that for important information, we learn from the Yongzheng Emperor, criticize it "know" three words to get, no need to "deep reading", continuous tracking, then you will be much easier.
In his later years, he was quiet, did not care about everything, took care of himself without a long-term strategy, and returned to the old forest.
