Dong Cunrui is a native of Huailai, Hebei Province, born in 1929, during the War of Resistance Against Japan, he became the local children's regiment leader, once covered the secretary of the district party committee to avoid the pursuit of the Japanese army, in 1945, 16-year-old Dong Cunrui joined the Eighth Route Army, and then began his military career.
In a battle in early 1946, Dong Cunrui was not afraid of danger, not afraid of sacrifice, and seized an enemy machine gun on the battlefield, therefore, the troops remembered him once, in the 1947 Chang'anLing sniper war, he was even more in the case of the sacrifice of the squad leader, with the soldiers to continue to fight, and then made new merits, from 1945 to 1948, Dong Cunrui made a total of three major merits, four small feats.
In May 1948, Dong Cunrui's unit was ordered to attack Longhua County, because Longhua County was the gate of Chengde, the capital of Rehe Province, so the enemy built a large number of defensive bunkers here, which were easy to defend and difficult to attack.
On May 25, the People's Liberation Army launched a general offensive against Longhua County, and when Dong Cunrui's unit attacked Longhua Middle School, the enemy's bunker on the bridge became a roadblock for our army's advance, and the continuous sacrifice of teammates made Dong Cunrui very distressed, he found the company commander and took the initiative to ask Miao to blow up this bunker.
The company commander did not want him to go at that time, because Dong Cunrui had completed several explosions, this time, Dong Cunrui insisted on going, the company commander clasped his hand tightly and said, "You must come back" Dong Cunrui took a small bag from his clothes and handed it to the company commander, he said, "If I sacrifice, this is my last party fee."
Under the cover of his teammates, Dong Cunrui marched towards the enemy's bunker, in the process of advancing, his leg was injured, and when he reached the bridge, he found that there was no place under the bridge to put the explosives, at this time, the horn of the general attack sounded, Dong Cunrui finally looked in the direction of coming, and then, he stood in the middle of the bridge, holding the explosive package in his left hand, clinging to the bridge-type bunker, and pulling the fuse with his right hand.
"Bang, bang, bang" With a loud explosion, the SOLDIER soldiers rushed into Longhua County.
Many comrades-in-arms saw Dong Cunrui's actions, they shed tears, when Dong Cunrui's chief Chen Renqi learned about it, he quickly rushed to Dong Cunrui's unit and offered them condolences.
Chen Renqi was born in 1913 in Longyan, Fujian Province, joined the Red Army at the age of 17, and then successively served as the political commissar of the Red Army, the director of the Political Department of the Eighth Route Army Brigade, and the political commissar of the People's Liberation Army Army.
At that time, even though Chen Renqi was in a high position, he had never forgotten Dong Cunrui and forgotten the Dong family, Dong Cunrui had married a daughter-in-law Lu Changling before joining the Eighth Route Army, and later after Dong Cunrui's sacrifice, Lu Changling was reluctant to remarry, and Dong's mother was very touched by Lu Changling's approach, she did not want Lu Changling to live like this for a lifetime, under her pleading, Lu Changling remarried after three years of filial piety for Dong Cunrui.
Chen Renqi took good care of the Dong family, he has been with Dong Cunrui's father Dong Quanzhong to maintain correspondence, in 1958, when Chen Renqi came to Beijing from Guangzhou to study, he came to the Dong family, visited Dong Cunrui's parents, and he later paid dong Cunrui's sister Dong Cunmei to go to school. During the three years of difficulty, the Dong family's parents could not eat, which made the general very uncomfortable, and he immediately sent someone to send more than 200 kilograms of food stamps and 200 yuan to the Dong family.

In 1994, the general died of illness at the age of 81.
