Most supermans and Batman on screen look a lot like the original DC Comics, but not all superheroes are the same. By the time some of the most iconic superheroes jumped off print pages, they had already made a major shift. The design team worked with cosplay photographers to show some of the main differences between DCEU characters and comic book characters, showing what they would look like if they were loyal to comics, and some of the ways in which they were perfect.
superman
There are plenty of legitimate complaints about Zack Snyder's superman in Superman: Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but his costume may not be among them.
One of the most striking features of Carl Al's new outfit is that, like other modern outfits, it's darker. The former Superman wore cobalt blue leggings with a bright red logo trim and cape, while the new suits belonged to the deep denim collection. Its texture also looks much rougher than the tights of the past, and the shape and muscle tissue of Cavill's superman suit are strikingly similar to the body shape of the characters in the novel—even his cheekbones are almost identical. Interestingly, Cavill's facial features are closest to what Superman looks like after he came back to life in a silver and black suit, so the most loyal Superman may not have appeared yet.
Hawkman
Eagle Man's debut in Green Arrow was done by the costume team at CW Television. The Carter Hall (Falk Hentschel) version of the character replaced the usual yellow chestband, wearing a golden-brown skinny leather armor and grass-green pants in a hunting tone. At the same time, his mask was simplified and shortened, and his red round breastplate was replaced with an Egyptian-style brooch.
Aquaman
Jason Momoa wore a sleek silver suit that accentuated his muscles instead of the classic Aquaman's scaly gold suit and soft pants.
Black canary
One of The Black Canary's most powerful weapons is her sensuality, and Katie Cassidy's portrayal of the character in Green Arrow is also colorful. But the producers made a lot of changes to the character's classic look. They rejected fish mesh stockings and gold epaulettes in favor of a slightly more conservative black leather tights.
Eagle Girl
Like her boyfriend Hawkman, the TV version of Hawks, unlike many of her manga versions, has some important stylistic shifts. Most notably, the character no longer used the iconic yellow on her suit and hat, opting instead for a brass fabric. However, The headdress worn by Kendra Sanders, played by Siara Renee, is shaped in the same shape as the character's headdress and incorporates her love of green skinny fabrics into the costume.
Wonder Woman
Lynda Carter played the iconic DC character in the 1970s TV series Wonder Woman. But when Gayle Gadot re-introduced Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, she wore the updated costume. Instead of choosing a red, yellow, or blue color scheme, she wore metal armor that matched the tougher new version of Batman and Superman.
The Flash (DCEU)
DCEU's Ezra Miller version of The Flash. His costume was more flamboyant and layered than on TV, and his entire body was covered in black fabric — including a patch behind the iconic lightning rod on his chest — and more yellow stripes on his arms and legs.
Batman
Batman's debut in Dawn of Justice, Ben Affleck's version, was apparently inspired by the journey of the Cloaked Crusaders in the 1986 comic strip miniseries The Dark Knight Returns.
Green Arrow
Green Arrow's costumes in Green Arrow have been tweaked a bit, but none of them match the comics. While the original was a nod to Robin Hood, Stephen Amell looks darker and tougher when he puts on his new suit. Both versions show green arrow muscle while hiding the true identity of the hero, but green arrow makes his hoodie more modern in the city scenes in the play.
The Flash (TV)
Grant Gustin's role as Barry Allen in the CW American drama The Flash has many differences from his original comic book. The character's appearance, costumes are mostly faithful to the original, but darker red, and have some unique stylistic attributes, such as lightning stitches on the helmet, his boots are red instead of the iconic yellow, while the lightning decorations on the waist and forearms from the pulled-out version are reduced and removed, respectively.
Atomic Man
Brandon Rose became ray Palmer, or Atom Man, in the TV series Green Arrow. The on-screen adaptation of the character included a complete molecular transformation of its original image. The character is a chemistry-centric helmet symbol, and other parts of the armor appear to incorporate upgrades from Atom from DC's New 52 series, such as him wearing a coat and an armor helmet instead of a mask.
Constantine
The short-lived TV series adaptation of Constantine is more faithful in style to its comic origins than the 2005 film starring Keanu Reeves. In the play, the costume of the Hell Knight, played by actor Matt Ryan, directly reflects the original loose business wear, and even the first button of the dress shirt is undone, and his thin tie (although red) and khaki jacket are also undone. Reeves, meanwhile, had a black coat instead of blonde hair, but with a loose tie. Of course, both versions feature the character's most iconic accessory: holding a cigarette in their hand.
Female hunters
In Green Arrow, Helena "Huntress" Bertinelli, played by Jessica De Gouw, is very different from her comic book opponents. Unlike the illustrated version of the character, there is hardly a hint of purple in the film, except for the lining of her lipstick and fur coat. Occasionally, the character would also wear one or two violet dresses, but her suit was a funeral-ready black with few decorative elements, giving the vigilante shrew a colorful identity on printed pages.
Arsenal
Roy Harper in Green Arrow (played by Colton Haynes) is one of the most realistic live-action characters in DC Comics. In this play, even the protagonist's appearance has been modified to be almost unrecognizable, the cross-sectional design of his jacket is a little more realistic, his shoulders are more decorative, and his eyes are light brown instead of the usual sky blue, but apart from these slight deviations, the character's physical performance is almost the closest to what it can get.
Lightning Boy
Like Barry Allen before him, the Flash Kid's costumes have undergone some major changes in the Flash tv series. The costume worn by Wally West (depicting Keiynan Lonsdale) has the hue of mustard and reason gloves, rather than separate fragments in the comics, although the belt is thick and the red is a deeper shadow, and the mask bear chin guard does not appear before. Most strikingly, his hair is no longer an Edward cullen-style brown fluffy hairstyle.
