Shen Yinmo (1883 – June 1, 1971) was a scholar, poet, calligrapher, and educator.

Shen Yinmo is famous for his calligraphy, and in the early years of the Republic of China, the book world was known as "Southern Shen Bei Yu" (Yu Right Ren). In the 1940s, there was a saying in the book world as "Southern Shen and Northern Wu" (Wu Yuru). Together with Li Zhimin, he is known as the "Two Great Masters of the History of Calligraphy of Peking University", and the famous literary scholar Mr. Xu Pingyu is called Shen Laozhi's calligraphy artistic achievements, "beyond the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, straight into the Four Houses of the Song Dynasty without shame". The late Professor Xie Zhiliu, head of the National Cultural Relics Appraisal Group, said: "For hundreds of years, there have been many scholars, and no one has been out of the right." The late Mr. Lin Yin, a professor at Taipei Normal University and director of the Institute of Chinese Literature, praised Shen Lao's calligraphy "below The Rice Yuanzhang (Mi Fu)".

Once Shen Yinmo gave the poem he had written to a friend, and as a result, he was accidentally seen by Chen Duxiu, who personally came to Shen Yinmo the next day and said unceremoniously to Shen Yinmo: "Your poems are very good, but the words are vulgar in the bones."

Shen Yinmo later said in his memoirs:

"Chen Duxiu's criticism of me is blunt and pertinent. It really made me open up, I was too deeply influenced by Huang Ziyuan since I was a child, the method was not high, it was indeed a bit of a wave, and now I know what to do, so that I have a direction in the future. ”

However, Shen Yinmo, who has made great achievements in calligraphy, said: "My achievements should be poetry first, words second, and calligraphy at the bottom." ”

He wrote the first prose poem in the history of modern Chinese poetry, "Moonlit Night".

"The frost wind whistles, and the moonlight shines brightly. I stood side by side with a top-of-the-line tree, but I didn't lean against it. ”

Shen Yinmo was also a righteous soldier who risked his life to rescue Li Baohua, Li Dazhao's son. In the year of Li Dazhao's sacrifice, after Shen Yinmo's careful arrangement, Li Baohua assumed the pseudonym Yang Zhen and took a boat to Study in Japan via Tianjin.

Shen Yinmo's elder brother Shen Shiyuan and younger brother Shen Jianshi were both professors at Peking University and were called "Three Shens of Peking University"
