Deng Ping (1908-1935), male, Han ethnicity, from Fushun County, Sichuan Province (now Zigong City). Deng Ping was a famous general of the Red Army and the only legion-level general who died in the Long March of the Red Army. Born in 1908 in Fushun, Sichuan, Deng Ping was admitted to the Wuhan Central Military and Political School at the end of 1926, where he joined the Communist Youth League of China and soon transferred to the Communist Party of China. On July 22, 1928, together with Peng Dehuai and Teng Daiyuan, he launched an armed uprising in Pingjiang, Hunan Province, and participated in the first to fifth anti-"encirclement and suppression" campaigns in the Central Soviet Region.

At the end of 1926, he was admitted to the Wuhan Central Military and Political School. In the autumn of 1927, he was sent to the 1st Regiment of the 5th Independent Division of the Nationalist Army in Hunan Province, where Peng Dehuai was the commander, to engage in military movement work. In July 1928, he participated in the organization and leadership of the Pingjiang Uprising, and served as the chief of staff of the 5th Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and the secretary of the Military Commission of the 5th Red Army of the Communist Party of China. Participated in the leadership of opening up the Xiang'e-Gansu District. In the winter of the same year, Peng Dehuai and Teng Daiyuan led the main force of the Red 5th Army to Jinggangshan to participate in the struggle to defend the revolutionary base area of Jinggangshan. In June 1930, he participated in the command of the Red 3rd Army in the Battle of Changsha and participated in the anti-"encirclement and suppression" of the Central Soviet Region.

In July 1933, he was also appointed chief of staff of the Eastern Army of the Red Army, and participated in the operation of the command post into Fujian. During this period, he also served as the chief of education of the red 5 army camp school, participated in the preparation of the workers' and peasants' red army school, served as the deputy chief of the brigade and the chief of education, and trained a large number of red army cadres. In January 1934, he was elected alternate executive member of the Central Committee of the Chinese Soviet Republic. In October of the same year, he participated in the Long March and assisted Peng Dehuai in commanding the Red 3rd Army as a right-sided vanguard to cover the breakthrough of the main force. On February 27, 1935, he was heroically killed while commanding operations on the front line of the Zunyi Campaign.
