In 1934, due to the failure of the fifth anti-encirclement and suppression campaign, in order to get rid of the encirclement and pursuit of the Kuomintang, the Red Army had to withdraw for strategic transfer, withdraw from the Central Soviet Area, and begin the 25,000-mile Long March.

After 2 years of the Long March, the Red Army fought more than 380 battles, successively captured more than 700 county towns, and sacrificed more than 430 cadres above the battalion level, passing through 14 provinces on the way, crossing 18 mountains, wading through 24 major rivers, and all snowy mountains, grasslands, and no-man's land were all traveled by the Central Red Army.

During this period, the highest general sacrificed by the Central Red Army was General Deng Ping, who was then the chief of staff of the Third Red Army.

In 1908, General Deng Ping was born into a working-class family in Fushun County, Sichuan. From an early age, he witnessed the cruel exploitation of the working masses by landlords and capitalists, and he accepted revolutionary ideas at an early age and was determined to serve the country.

At the age of 18, Deng Ping was admitted to the Wuhan branch of the Whampoa Military Academy with excellent results and became a military cadet. At the military academy, Deng Ping joined the Communist Youth League.

Soon after entering the military academy, Chiang Kai-shek launched the April 12 coup d'état, and a large number of Communists and the masses were persecuted by Chiang Kai-shek. In the same year, the Wuhan Nationalist government, headed by Wang Jingwei, announced the Second Northern Expedition, so the students of the Wuhan Branch Were incorporated into the Central Independent Division, and then went to the front to fight Against Zhang Zuolin.

By July 1927, after Wang Jingwei launched the July 15 Incident, Deng Ping continued to persist in the struggle, continued to stay within the Kuomintang, and contributed to the revolutionary cause. After the Nanchang Uprising, when the sparks of sparks everywhere were burning in the plains, Deng Ping came to Pingjiang and began to prepare and lead the Pingjiang Uprising.

Under the leadership of Deng Ping, the Pingjiang Uprising took only 100 minutes to win, and then the Fifth Army of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army was formed, and later under the counterattack of the Kuomintang, Deng Ping led the Fifth Army to retreat to Jinggangshan and participated in the defense of Jinggangshan.

In 1930, the Central Committee decided to merge the Red Fifth Army and the Red Eighth Army into the Red Third Army, so Peng Dehuai served as the commander of the Red Third Army, Teng Daiyuan as the political commissar, Deng Ping as the chief of staff, and also served as the commander of the Red Fifth Army of the Red Third Army.

In October 1931, the Central Soviet District decided to establish a military command college, so Deng Ping was appointed deputy chief and chief of education. It can be said that many generals of the Republic were once students of General Deng Ping.

After the failure of the fifth anti-encirclement and suppression campaign, Deng Ping, together with the Red Army, began a long march of 25,000 miles. However, after this order was issued, Peng Dehuai and Deng Ping's Red Third Army could be said to be the most stressful, because they wanted to cover the breakthrough of the main force, so they had to face more than ten times the number of enemies behind the palace.

General Deng Ping's sacrifice came after the Zunyi Conference. After the Zunyi Conference, the Red Third Army withdrew from Zunyi County according to the instructions of the central authorities, and then crossed the Chishui River and arrived at Xuyong County in Sichuan. Soon, he crossed the Chishui River twice and arrived at Loushan Pass.

It was also at this time, on February 23, 1935, that the Central Committee strictly ordered the Red Third Army to retake Zunyi before the end of the month, so the Red Third Army successively defeated the Sixth, Fifteenth, and Ninth Regiments of the Qian Army at Donggong Temple, Gaoping, Daqiao, and other places, and then defeated the First, Fifth, and Eighth Regiments of the Qian Army at Shizipu, northwest of Zunyi City, until it was forced to enter Zunyi City.

In order to quickly take Zunyi, on February 27, General Deng Ping took the initiative to arrive at the front line and command the operation of the Red Eleventh Regiment. At that time, General Zhang Aiping, who was awarded the rank of general in 1955, was the political commissar of the Eleventh Regiment at that time.

Under the leadership of General Zhang Aiping and local compatriots, General Deng Ping came to the old city of Zunyi, and not far from the north gate secretly observed the enemy situation. It was also at this time that General Deng Ping was discovered by the Kuomintang troops, and a bullet from the old city of Zunyi hit General Deng Ping.

This year, General Deng Ping was only 27 years old.

As the only corps-level general who died during the Long March of the Red Army, if he had not died early, he would have at least been rated as a general when he was awarded the rank in 1955.

With the founding of New China, there were too many revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed, and we saluted General Deng Ping and the revolutionary ancestors!
