It took only 5 years to promote Li Jiahua, the national master of chess

On the afternoon of July 18, the Lanzhou morning post handheld Lanzhou reporter met the "Northwest Chess King" in the Gansu Chess Academy, and the teacher Li Jiahua, dressed in casual clothes, looked radiant.

In fact, like many of my friends when I was a child, I came into contact with Chinese chess at a small chess stall on the street, and every folk chess player on the chess stall was my "enlightenment teacher," Mr. Li Jiahua said. At the street chess stall, Li Jiahua gradually learned about Chinese chess, and every layout on the chessboard, every move, and the hidden mysteries and vagaries in the chess game deeply attracted the young Li Jiahua at that time.

Later, Li Jiahua met the first true enlightenment teacher in his chess career, Wang Daoxia. In 1977, Teacher Wang Daoxia recommended Li Jiahua, who was only 12 years old, to the Chengguan District Sports Committee, and in a simple test match, defeated the top two in the Then Chengguan District Sports Committee Chinese Chess Selection Competition.

In 1978, Li Jiahua participated in the Gansu Provincial Chinese Chess Junior Championship for the first time and won the second place. In the years that followed, Li Jiahua took it to the next level, winning the Gansu Provincial Chinese Chess Junior Championship for several consecutive years. In 1983, Li Jiahua's outstanding talent in various competitions and his outstanding understanding of chess were discovered by Qian Hongfa, a famous chess master in Gansu, and recruited into the Gansu Provincial Chess Team and began to receive professional training.

In just five years, Li Jiahua's chess strength grew rapidly after entering the professional team, and in 1987 he won the tenth place in the national chess individual competition and was promoted to chess master. For more chess masters, it often takes 10 years to go from professional to master.

Chess is a spiritual sustenance for me

"For me, chess is a pursuit and a spiritual sustenance." Teacher Li Jiahua told reporters that over the years, the love and dependence on chess will still let him often pay attention to the development trend of Chinese chess, watch the live broadcast of chess events, learn wonderful chess games and endgames, participate in some chess matches, and constantly improve his chess level.

"Many parents now see chess as an extracurricular activity." But in the eyes of teacher Li Jiahua, chess can enhance a person's self-confidence, patience, and psychological endurance, and the growth of these abilities, whether in learning or in the broader life, will benefit endlessly.

In recent years, Mr. Li Jiahua has rarely participated in the competition, he is more behind the scenes, engaged in some chess teaching, research work, but also trying to find some talented "good seedlings" among children learning chess.

Heavy process, light result For the majority of chess lovers to provide wonderful games

Talking about the Lanzhou Qilihe Lily Cultural Tourism Water MillIngou Taoyuan Chinese Chess Tournament, in the face of many chess masters inside and outside the province, teacher Li Jiahua, the "Northwest Chess King", as the "champion", also knows the heavy responsibility. Recently, teacher Li Jiahua has been studying chess and endings at home in his spare time, preparing to welcome all kinds of masters to come to "break through".

"The primary goal, of course, is to succeed in 'defending the ring.'" Before the game, Teacher Li Jiahua also set a small goal for himself, at the same time, Teacher Li Jiahua also hopes that whether it is the defending side or the attacking side, he can seriously treat each game seriously, pay attention to the process, look down on the result, and contribute more wonderful games to the majority of chess fans.

"The most important thing is, of course, to publicize Lanzhou and Chinese chess." For this competition, teacher Li Jiahua also gave a high degree of affirmation. He said that holding such activities can first publicize Gansu Province and Lanzhou City, so that more people can understand the historical, cultural and cultural landscapes of Gansu and Lanzhou.
