Today we will talk about the story of "Luo Hongxian", the inscription of "Confucius's Landing".

Luo Hong, who wrote "Confucius ascended to the place" on Mount Taishan, was the head of the Ming Dynasty, and Yan Song was a son and daughter of the family for ten years, and "the son wanted to raise but did not wait" because he recommended the Jiajing Emperor and was dismissed from his post and returned to the countryside to study Yangmingxue

Luo Hongxian (1504-1564), zi dafu, trumpet Nian'an, Han, Jiangxi Ji'an province. In his early years, his career was smooth, and in 1525, he was raised to the examination, and in 1529, he went to the examination and was promoted to a scholar, and was appointed to the Hanlin Academy, which was called Luo Zhuangyuan by some people.

Shortly thereafter, after staying at home to take care of his father for two years, and then he was about to be removed from office when he was due, and Luo Hong first left his parents and returned to the capital. Soon after, he was killed by his father and returned. In 1535, he was bereaved by his mother again, and continued to keep filial piety, although Luo Hongxian had a smooth career in the early stages, but "the son wanted to raise and did not wait for his relatives", and his parents died one after another.

In 1539, ten years after his promotion to the throne, Luo Hongxian re-entered his career and was summoned to zuo Zanshan of Zuo Chunfang.

The Jiajing Emperor of the Ming Dynasty lived in a simple and simple dynasty, and abandoned the early dynasty for a long time. Luo Hongxian, along with his friends Tang Shunzhi and Zhao Shichun, advised the Jiajing Emperor Zhu Houxi that he could not go to the court due to illness, so the crown prince would receive his courtiers on the early morning of the first day of the new year. However, Zhu Houxi was angered by Luo Hongxian's proposal, which seemed to imply that his condition could not be recovered. In 1541, the trio was dismissed from their posts. Luo Hongxian had to return to his hometown again.

devoted himself to the study of Yangmingxue after returning to the countryside

After Luo Hongxian's career was less than three years old, and he did not hope for the sensitive and incompetent emperor, he plunged into YangmingXue, and later his children's relatives Yan Song strongly recommended it, but HongXian still insisted on resigning from becoming an official.

After Wang Yangming attained enlightenment in Longchang, in March of the fifth year of Zhengde (1510 AD), he was transferred to the prefect of Ji'an, although it was less than a year, his doctrine had a profound impact on Ji'an. Luo Hongxian, who grew up in Ji'an, admired Wang Yangming very much in his early years, "In the fifteenth year, he read Wang Shouren's transmission and practice recorded well, and wanted to go to the job."

Pictured: Wang Yangming said before his death: "When I gave lectures in my lifetime, it was only three words: 'to the conscience.' ”

"To the Conscience" is a summary of Yang Ming's lifelong thoughts.

Luo Hongxian stressed the importance of the "to the conscience" and believed that "conscience may come naturally, but the good and evil in the heart always disturb people's moral self and prevent people from realizing their conscience, because he believes that the best way to "give conscience" is to "return to silence" (return to meditation). People must temporarily distance themselves from feelings to eliminate desires, stay in a state of "emptiness and silence", and achieve the function of conscience and its essence "both inside and outside".

Under the influence of Wang Yangming's Dragon Field Enlightenment, Luo Hong first found the Shilian Cave in Jishui Futian, planted plum blossoms at the entrance of the cave, closed the door to thank guests, and "sat silently on a bed in the Shilian Cave and did not leave the house for three years" in the Shilian Cave. Later, a college was established next to it, which widely collected disciples and inherited the Jishui culture. According to the data, Luo Hong passed it on to the ninth generation, and he ate and prayed the Buddha in the Stone Lotus Cave, and did not pass it on again.

Compared with Yangmingxue, the achievements in geography are more remarkable

Shortly after being dismissed from office by the imperial court in 1541, Luo Hongxian began to compile maps and draw them into the "Map of Guangyu". The first scale is also the earliest comprehensive provincial map in China. Most of the maps and atlases engraved at this time were based primarily on Luo Hongxian's "Map of Broad Opinion".

In 1584, when Matteo Ricci published the "Complete Map of The Mountains and Seas of Youdi", he introduced the concepts of latitude and longitude to China. Later, when drawing the East Asian section, he probably referred to the 1579 edition of the "Guangyu Map".

In addition, Luo Hongxian's calligraphy skills are exquisite, and his ink treasures are preserved in Jinci Temple, Lushan, Le'an and other places. These include the inscription of Confucius of Taishan and the door link. Unfortunately, the gate was chiseled down in 1967. But the five big characters of "Confucius's Landing" are still shining.
