1. Collection of turtle eggs
Female turtles do not eat for about a week before they start laying eggs, crawl around, and look for suitable places on land, especially like grass and trees, next to hard sand to dig holes to lay eggs. Spawning occurs mostly in the late afternoon or with light rain, and rarely at dawn. The female turtle has left the spawning field after laying eggs, after determining the eggs, you can collect the eggs, when picking eggs, first use your hands to probe from the periphery of the hole, slowly open the soil, you can see the eggs, carefully take the turtle eggs in the right direction, can not be flipped or shaken, gently transferred into the incubator.
There are also some people who practice, to lay eggs after 3-4 days after the turtle lays eggs, there are fertilized eggs to be retained for incubation, other treatment, this practice must be, a large number of practice proves that the turtle lays eggs, immediately carefully take out the hatching, will not affect the embryonic development, and a short period of time on the turtle eggs fertilized eggs are difficult to distinguish, too early to deal with the turtle eggs, resulting in unnecessary waste and loss. 2. Hatching of turtle eggs
The collected turtle eggs are put into the adjusted hatching tank or hatching box, the lowest layer is placed about 10 cm of coarse sand or small bricks, the middle layer is put into 25-30 cm of incubation soil and flattened and compacted, and then the eggs are laid flat in the direction of the sand, and then the thickness of 3-5 cm of hatching soil is slightly pressed, the distance between the eggs and the eggs should be maintained 2 cm, to prevent the spread of a certain pathogen, the humidity of the sand soil is about 9%, the sand is formed in the hand, loosen and immediately disperse, and finally the upper layer is covered with biochemical sponge or water moss, Prevent water from evaporating too quickly, spray water every 3-4 days, and keep the sand moist.
After a certain period of incubation, the accumulation of temperature, the entire embryonic development is completed, at this time, the baby turtle is ready to come out of the shell. Its shell is basically the same as that of other turtles and turtles, and cracks appear in the egg shell 3-4 days before the shell, accompanied by liquid outflow, and a small lump of wet soil will appear around the egg. This is normal. When the baby turtle comes out of the shell, it first breaks the egg shell with the top of the snout, first a small hole, then continues to expand, extending the head, then the two forelimbs are extended, and then support the entire turtle body, struggling to break free, and finally successfully out of the shell. Precautions for improving hatching rates of turtle eggs
1, during the incubation of eggs, maintaining the appropriate humidity is the most critical, not too dry and too wet, in the incubator around the filter cotton constant humidity, indoor humidity of 80% -90%, temperature maintained at 25 °C -32 °C.
2, the money turtle hatching soil is best to use sand soil, that is, river sand to leave thick and thin. The diameter is about 0.6-0.8 mm, the soil can be dried and finely milled with yellow mud, and the proportion of sand and mud is "Six Four", so that the mixed soil can be moisturized, warm and breathable, very suitable for the embryonic development of the turtle.
3, some people want to use vermiculite as a material, it is recommended to add 30% of the sand and soil mixed use, the effect will be more ideal.
4, the water used in the spray water is preferably cold boiled water, the water temperature should be consistent with the temperature of the incubation tank, and there can be no large temperature difference.
5, the same batch of turtle eggs out of the shell, has not yet been out of the shell has more than 5 days, can use artificial shell to help it come out smoothly, the method is to open a small hole at the end of the turtle egg head with forceps, this matter, the head of the baby turtle does not stop swinging, some mature immediately climb out, some can not climb out every other day, directly with the finger carefully peel off a small piece of the egg shell, until 2-3 days, the baby turtle can come out smoothly.
6. In the incubation process of turtle eggs, bad eggs that have not been fertilized or have black spots and moldy eggs in the egg shell should be cleaned up in time, including replacing the surrounding sand soil to prevent the contamination of miscellaneous bacteria and prevent the spread of germs.
