Founded in 1929 by Xi'an Restaurant, it was initiated by drama writers Feng Zhimo, Ma Gongtao and others, and invited Feng Kechang, who was foreman at Yixiangting Restaurant, to undertake it.
Feng Kechang, a native of Chang'an, went to the city to learn to cook when he was a teenager and had considerable skills. At that time, there were 13 people participating in the fundraising, raising 650 yuan in the current dayang, located at No. 24 West Avenue west of the bell tower, and began to operate red meat boiled steamed buns. The shop was originally a large courtyard, and Asked Mr. Xing Tingwei, the teacher of Zhao Shuqiao, the minister of military aircraft at the end of the Qing Dynasty, to write the name of the shop. In 1933, Mr. Yu Youren, a native of Shaanxi Sanyuan, returned to Shaanxi and came to Xi'an Restaurant to taste it. When he tasted dishes and snacks such as warm shredded waist and large meat in the water basin, he said happily: "I haven't eaten such a good hometown meal for a long time!" He also encouraged Feng Kechang to say: "We must do more varieties that the people of Shaanxi love to eat, so that we will not worry about the lack of business in the hotel!" ”

In 1938, after a long journey, the Indian medical team aiding China broke through the heavy obstacles of the Kuomintang reactionaries to come to Xi'an, and the beloved Premier Zhou once again set up a banquet at the Xi'an Restaurant, entertaining international friends such as Dr. Ke Dihua and anti-Japanese democrats who aided China to resist Japan.

Under the care of Premier Zhou Enlai, the Xi'an Restaurant began to be relocated in October 1973. In the second half of 1977, with the joint efforts of all sectors of society, a new Xi'an Restaurant Building with a width of 70 meters, a height of 6 floors and a business area of more than 8,000 square meters was completed and opened in the middle of East Avenue.
At that time, Xi'an Restaurant was a rare Western-style building in the 1970s, and the simple Eastern European architectural style led the fashion of that year. In the memory of many old Xi'an people, being able to eat at Xi'an restaurants and hold weddings is a very tall thing.
