During the Yan'an period, "Reference News" was once renamed "Today News" and published. In the spring of 1941, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to merge the New China Daily with the Today News and publish jiefang Daily, a large organ of the Party Central Committee, in Yan'an. Since then, The Information for Reference has been republished as an internal publication mimeographed, co-edited by Xinhua News Agency and Jiefang Daily.

On December 1, 1942, the "Reference News" jointly edited by The Liberation Daily and xinhua news agency was changed to lead printing, the issue number was changed to the first number, and the front page headline was "Stalin Appointed Commander of the Southern Front of the Central Line" two telegrams of the German Military Circles Commenting on the Great Offensive of the Red Army. The "Reference News" in this period is a small 16-open, published once a day, and each issue produces two pages of positive and negative pages.

After the publication of the "Liberation Daily," most of the Chinese and foreign telecommunications and press releases copied by the Xinhua News Agency were published in the newspapers, and most of the articles published in the "Reference News" were telegrams copied by the Xinhua News Agency that were not suitable for public publication at that time.

When the "Reference News" published these telegrams, in addition to reflecting the style of me as the main in the handling of the title, the internal text was basically original, so it had a strong reference. Yang Song, then editor-in-chief of The Liberation Daily, said of the importance of the Reference News report: "Your job is to make the Party Central Committee know the affairs of the world without going out. ”

During the war, the Reference News was badly lost, and few original copies existed, but the lead printed version of the Reference News No. 1 was fortunately preserved. It is now in the Central Archives, a precious historical material handed over by Xinhua News Agency to the Central Archives after the founding of New China.
