If you want to ask, what kind of emotion in this world can make people physically and mentally exhausted, but at the same time be willing to eat? It must have come from the unconditional and inclusive love of parents for their children. Even if you are noisy and naughty and nonsensical, you are still the sweetest burden in my heart.
The picture book "Silly Cute You" presents such a touching emotion - through the perspective of a mother, telling the daily life of a naughty baby at home, although there are all kinds of fatigue and troubles, but in the quiet after a move, there is only a sweet and happy aftertaste in the eyes.
The author of the picture book, Sheri Dasky Rikol, is a famous American picture book creator and the mother of two sons. She likes to create picture books for children, hoping to bring another share of happiness to children through the world in the book, and hopes that books written with laughter can make children's bedtime better.
And when I read this book with my children at home, I really felt this happiness and beauty. Sure enough, the words written with a smile can really convey happiness to the reader. The text in the picture book is simple and simple, but there is a catchy sense of rhythm when reading, and with the picture, there is a kind of ease and humor that jumps on the paper.

I think this is the same feeling that every new parent has. And this voice through the text, through a warm and moving but incomparably real picture, when it comes into our eyes, there is a beautiful mood of "yesterday's recurrence".

The illustrations for the picture book come from Caldec Award winner Patrick McDonnell, who created the comic strip mutts series that have taken the world by storm and won numerous awards. This time, when I gave pictures to the picture book "Silly Cute You", I also had the most careful design for the color and brushstrokes of the picture.
The cover of the picture book is a warm yellow, soft color, with the child's lively, sunny and happy emotions; and on the back cover of the picture book, with the end of the day's interaction time between mother and daughter, the night is quiet, naturally it is a peaceful and calm blue.
On the inner page of the picture book, it is also used to color the scene that matches the development of the story. In the naughty little girl's noisy time, it is a consistent warm color; in the mother's quiet and rest time, it is the blue with its own tranquility.
What's more, it is also ingenious in the color matching of the character's dress. The mother is a simple black and white match, but the daughter is a red and green contrast color match, which can highlight the little girl's jumping personality.
The brushstrokes of the painting are simple and casual pen pastel lines, a few graffiti, but the daily interaction between mother and daughter is perfectly outlined, so that the whole picture has a sense of agility. Even in the processing of the text, it is also in response to the needs of the picture and the plot, or bold, or enlarged, or reduced, or added a crack effect on the word "knocked down" ... Minutes give people an immersive sense of reality. Sure enough, it was in the details.
For children aged 2-5, when reading picture books together, compared with words, it is natural that the emotions that color can convey are more direct, and the information that can be conveyed by the picture is more interesting; for mothers, a few words with a sense of rhythm are naturally more able to reach the softest emotions in the depths of the heart.
Come to think of it, this is why when we read this picture book together, the corners of our mouths will always rise involuntarily. The troubles, sweetness and happiness of the time with the baby jumped on the paper and went straight to the heart.
