In 1931, in order to save education funds and divert them to other uses, the Sichuan warlords forcibly merged Chengdu University, Chengdu Normal University, and public Sichuan University into the National Sichuan University. Meng Wentong was very angry and immediately resigned and left, and his head did not return.
Meng Wentong, who teaches in the history department of Sichuan University, was dismissed because of a dispute with the school, but he went to class as usual and said: "Whether to hire me or not is your Sichuan University's business, I am a Sichuanese, I can't help but teach Sichuan children!" ”
