In the early years of the Republic of China, Zhang Taiyan wrote articles in Beijing unscrupulously, and some people gave him a nickname, "Zhang Crazy".
Scolding, this is the most reflective of Zhang Taiyan's madness. Zhang Taiyan had a very high status in the Republic of China, and he was both the founder of the Xinhai Revolution and the godfather of traditional Chinese studies. Logically, such a figure should be high and gentle, and look at the labels on him, thinkers of the late Qing Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty, historians, primary school masters, masters of Pu Xue, masters of Traditional Chinese studies, and national and democratic revolutionaries.

In 1927, Kang Youwei held the 70th birthday banquet in Shanghai, at this time Kang Youwei had unlimited scenery, and the royalist company provided him with a steady stream of money, so he invited celebrities to take this opportunity to enjoy the scenery. After Zhang Taiyan heard about this, he was angry and decided to write a pair of shou lian and give it to Kang Youwei.
Zhang Taiyan wrote that the Shou Lian is, "The kingdom will die, and it is for the old not to die." It sounds good, but in fact, it is scolding people without spitting bones, there is not a single scolding word in the shou lian, but Kang Youwei's face is green after he sees it, it is said that Kang Youwei will soon die, and this shou lian also has merit.
This shou lian is from the "Zhongyong" "The kingdom will perish, there will be demons", and the lower link is from the "Analects" "Old and not dead, for thieves". In fact, Zhang Taiyan scolded Kang Youwei as a "demon" and a "national thief". If it is said that scolding Kang Youwei is that Zhang Taiyan is not accustomed to his set, then scolding Yuan Shikai is jaw-dropping. Swearing does not carry dirty words, and the high people also.
What is even more absolutely reflected in the matter of scolding Yuan Shikai, Zhang Taiyan was appointed as a border envoy of the three eastern provinces after returning from Japan. When Yuan Shikai suppressed the "second revolution", Zhang Taiyan had already realized that Yuan Shikai had the heart to be called emperor, so he wrote an article in the press to "remind" him.
Zhang Taiyan's fame was too great, and Yuan Shikai did not dare to do anything with him, so he had to be lured to Beiping. Zhang Taiyan was sad and indignant, and prepared to find Yuan Shikai to reason in person. Yuan Shikai avoided seeing him, and Zhang Taiyan used the grand medal as a fan to scold him in front of the presidential palace, and Yuan Shikai imprisoned him in the Longquan Temple.
Although the treatment of captivity was generous, after all, it was imprisonment, Zhang Taiyan was very annoyed, and the words "Yuan Thief" were engraved on the table, doors and windows of the room where he lived, and he was also whipped with a stick, called "whip corpse". On the eve of Yuan Shikai's claim to the throne, he forced Zhang Taiyan to write a letter of persuasion.
Zhang Taiyan thought that the opportunity had come, and he wrote: "A certain oath remembering april 8 of the first year is still in the ear. Gong Jin's ambitions and arrogance are not only the rebellion of the Republic of China, but also the sinners of the cleansing. In a certain difficult place, it is better to live than to die! But ji gong saw my book and sentenced him to death, which is even more glorious than dying at the hands of the evil bureaucrats of the Manchu Qing Dynasty on that day!
