Antecedent
Around 1181, in order to avenge Temujin's father's quick revenge, the leader of the Qi'er Beggar Clan raided Temujin's tooth tent, and Temujin's wife, Bo Erti, became a prisoner. When rescued, Bo Erti was pregnant. Soon temujin was left with tetsuko.
On August 25, 1227, Genghis Khan Temujin died, and the struggle between Genghis Khan's sons over who would inherit his throne began to heat up. Eventually Wokoutai became the Great Khan.
Temujin has six ル子. According to Mongol tradition, the four sons who were eligible to inherit the throne were his wife, Erti, the eldest son, Shuchi, the second son, Chagatai, the third son, Kutai, and the youngest son, Torre.
In addition, unlike the primogeniture system pursued by the Central Plains Dynasty, according to Mongolian customs, the eldest son was usually divided into the most distant places to open up the frontier on their own, and the younger son inherited the family business.
Temujin broke with traditional customs, and as a brilliant politician on the steppe, he must have his own considerations on the issue of succession. Before the Western Expedition to Huazimo in 1219, he summoned his sons and brothers to discuss the establishment of the reserve at the suggestion of Empress Yisui.
For his eldest son, Tetsuki, he knew he was not the right successor. On the one hand, it is a question of his identity. Since the beginning of his birth, there have been rumors that Shuchi is the descendant of the contemptuous beggars; In addition, he and the second elder Chagatai have always been at odds, and when chagatai discussed the heir, he even said such things as "Shu Chi begged for seeds for contempt, how can he insult the society".
Due to the contradiction with Shuchi, the second son Chagatai was not in the scope of Temujin's consideration, not to mention Chagatai's temperament. Although he was a fierce general, he did not have the qualities of a good ruler, so Chagatai was the one with the least possibility of succession.
Choosing between the three-son nest and the four-son tuolei is the key to Temujin's entanglement. According to records, Genghis Khan struggled with this for a long time.
The Three Sons' Nest Kuotai has a gentle temperament and has no obvious conflict with several brothers. At the same time, he is more adept at handling government affairs and acting steadily, and Temujin believes that he has the qualities of a politician.
The fourth son, Tuolei, was his favorite child. Temujin once said to Torre: "If you take charge of my official accounts, army, and wealth, I will be better for you, and you can be more at ease." Temujin could have chosen him as his heir, according to tradition. However, tore was the smallest, difficult to convince, and had always been friendly with his eldest son, Shu chi, which became a factor of concern for Genghis Khan.
After thinking about it again, Genghis Khan believed that after all, the eldest and second elders already had a vast fief, and the fourth elder also had strong enough military power, in order to balance the interests of the sons, Temujin chose the three sons' nest and broad platform.
Of course, there are also various theories about the cause of Temujin's death, one of which was killed by Wokoutai. Because Temujin originally chose Wokoutai, but later decided to choose Toro mine. When Wokoutai learned of this, he immediately decided to poison his father.
Whether or not this rumor is true, the historical fact is that Genghis Khan died in 1227. For two years after his death, his youngest son, Tuolei, served as the overseer of the state. Wokoutai was elected As great khan of the Great Mongol State at the Kuriertai Assembly in 1229 in accordance with his will.
But can the two really live in peace? History proves that no.
First of all, this conference to determine the position was held for more than 40 days! It is said that at that time, Wokoutai and Tuolei gave up their positions to each other. Wokoutai said that Tuolei was more appropriate, and Tuolei said that he was willing to follow his father's will. The two seemed to have no intention of competing at all.
However, if the will is authoritative enough, why did it drag on for more than 40 days? WoKoutai understood that the princes and ministers at that time were more inclined to drag thunder, so he could only choose to retreat and advance. In the end, the two sides reached a compromise and followed the will to succeed to the throne. Wokoutai handles government affairs, and Touraine is responsible for the military. This also sets the stage for what happens next.
Three years later, in 1232, Wokoutai and Tuolei went south to launch the Battle of Sanfengshan, destroying the main force of the Jin Dynasty, and planned to return to the headquarters together. This year, the "Sewage Mystery" occurred, and Tuolei mysteriously died in the army.

On the other day, Wokoutai was ill, and for several days there was no improvement in Tuolei's care by the pillow, and the shaman performed witchcraft next to him, washing the poisoned Wokoutai with water from the bowl. Thirein could not bear his brother and the Great Khan to be so uncomfortable, and out of love for his brother, he took the bowl and drank the witch water to dispel the disease, hoping to suffer instead of his brother. As a result, Tore fell ill and died.
This is the record of the official history book "History of yuan" and later the "History Collection" of Rasheddin, the prime minister of the Ilkhanate. In the "Secret History of the Mongols", there is a detail, the wizard proposes that someone else can die in place of Wokoutai, and Torre takes the initiative to ask for death, and obtains the consent of Wokoutai.
But is history as simple as a fairy tale?
In fact, in the past three years, Wokoutai has always been full of fear of Tuolei, and at this time, Tuolei has a stronger military power, and after the destruction of gold, it has already made great achievements. Coupled with his father's preference for Tuolei and the tradition inherited by the young lord, it seems that everything is shaking the khan's desire for stability and power and the fear of life and death to drain the warmth between the brothers. Therefore, people are more willing to believe that Wokoutai poisoned Tuolei.
Later realities seem to confirm this as well. Wo Kuotai did not take care of his widowed wife according to Tuolei's last words, but constantly eroded Tuolei's family property and military power, and even put forward the suggestion of "younger sister becoming daughter-in-law", so that Tuolei's wife instigated Lu Hetiani to marry his eldest son Guiyu, but is Wokoutai really such a cruel person? If so, why not kill Tuolei instead of killing Tuolei, but instead accepting the refusal of Theray to be a peacemaker, and letting her raise Tuolei's sons to grow up? So much so that he suffered revenge after the Torre family?
consequence
Although Bird Kuotai inherited the Khan position, he always had an overwhelming advantage. After his death, his eldest son, Guiyu Khan, briefly succeeded to the throne for 1 year, and the Mongol Khanship was succeeded by Möngke, a descendant of Tore.
Conclusion: Perhaps, these things can never be solved. This war of succession to the Khan's throne has become a doubtful case, and it has also formed a blood feud between the two families, and the family struggle caused by the succession of the Khan's throne will not end.
