Tao Shoubo (1902~1997)
A famous modern calligrapher and painter, he has the reputation of "three absolutes" of calligraphy and painting. Among them, the seal carving is the first, and the painting plum is the second, which is known as the "seal carving giant hand" and the "painting plum holy hand".
In his early years, Mr. Tao Shoubo studied under many well-known masters and became famous in Shanghai. At the age of forty-six, he joined Mr. Zhang Daqian again and became an important descendant of dafeng hall.
"Master Zhuan Yiduo is my master", he worshiped a total of eight famous teachers in his lifetime, which can be described as the great achievement of many teachers and bringing together all the families.
Since 1931, Mr. Tao Shoubo has devoted himself to writing Mei.
At this time, when the country was in turmoil and turmoil, Tao Shoubo's painting of plums was an expression of his patriotic enthusiasm. The cultural connotation endowed by plum blossoms is also an important symbol of the cultural spirit of the Chinese nation.
In order to paint plum blossoms, Tao Shoubo has specially studied the ecology of plum blossoms.
"The old branches of the plum tree do not flower, and the flowers are in the new branches, which is a physical phenomenon. The plum has an indomitable spirit, and where the old stem that is broken or bent, and the branch that sprouts in the second year, must grow straight upwards, never downwards. ”
He also studied famous plum painters throughout the ages, such as Wu Changshuo, Jin Nong, Zhao Zhiqian, Chen Lu, and Wang Mian.
Therefore, the cold plums of one tree after another are in Tao Shoubo's pen, which is strange and clumsy, thin and unworldly, and has different postures, vivid and natural.
In addition to painting ink plums, Tao Shoubo also has red plums, green plums, two-color plums, three-color plums, five-color plums and so on.
Or sparse horizontal oblique, or dark incense cage moon, or iron bone spring, or soft branch cold incense, or ice muscle jade bone, or tender rui competition for spring, wrote the plum of the world.
In the painting, the stubbornness of the plum is clumsy, the plum branch is tall and handsome, and the plum blossom is beautiful and flexible, jumping on the paper, making people feel that this plum seems to be alive, and it seems that there is a repeated fragrance, blowing the face.
Mr. Tao wrote mei because he loved mei, and it is not an exaggeration to call him "mei crazy". Especially in his later years, writing Mei has entered the realm of transformation, and he has written it casually, all of which are for Mei to convey the gods.
Tao Shoubo painted tens of thousands of plums in his lifetime and was a very diligent and prolific painter. After middle age, he wandered overseas, but as a cultural messenger, he still spared no effort to spread and promote Chinese culture, which deserves our admiration.
