The Boston Celtics lost 128-114 to the Chicago Bulls, a year in which the record dropped to 2-5, and veteran guard Marcus Smart's frustration boiled over.
Smart, 27, criticised the team's two top scorers, Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown, for not involving the other players in the offense.
"Every team knows we're trying to find Jason and Jaylen," Smart told reporters through Forbes' Chris Graham after Monday's defeat. "Every team was programmed and researched to stop Jason and Jaylen. I think everyone's scouting report is for these guys to pass the ball. They don't want to pass the ball. ”
Boston led Chicago by 19 points with minutes left in the third quarter, but that lead disappeared when the Celtics lost the final quarter of the game 39-11. Smart told reporters he was cold and powerless on the team's offense because his teammates didn't pass the ball to him.
Smart scored his season-best 16 points in the loss, but so far in 2021 he's averaging just 8.8 points per game. Brown and Tatum scored 28 and 20 points, respectively
