The Hong Kong Re-Departure Grand Alliance, co-sponsored by more than 1,500 people from all walks of life in Hong Kong, was announced in Hong Kong on 5 May 2020. The organization aims to unite people from all walks of life in Hong Kong, gather social consensus, adhere to "one country, two systems", find a way out for Hong Kong, and jointly build a stable and prosperous Hong Kong.

Tung Chee-hwa, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and general convener of the Hong Kong Re-Departure Alliance, said in his speech at the press conference that the establishment of the Grand Alliance coincided with the difficult moment of the epidemic in Hong Kong, the economic downturn and social instability, and the prosperity and stability were challenged. Fortunately, the country has become stronger, step by step, and Hong Kong can finally start again. A lot has changed in Hong Kong in the past year, and a good time is coming.

Tung Chee-hwa pointed out that the world is changing, and the country will get better and better. Grand Alliance will continue to promote Hong Kong's integration into the overall situation of national development in the future.

Leung Chun-ying, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and general convener of the Hong Kong Re-Departure Alliance, said in his speech that in the past year, with the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law and the implementation and improvement of Hong Kong's election system, Hong Kong's social order has returned to normal, the operation of the legislature has been freed from the interference of "Rab", and the relationship between the executive and the legislature has returned to the right track. At the same time, the 14th Five-Year Plan has been fully launched by the state and all parts of the mainland, and Hong Kong is facing new opportunities and competition.

Leung pointed out that the Grand Alliance will soon carry out its second year of work, focusing on more proactively promoting Hong Kong's integration into the overall situation of national development, including focusing on promoting cooperation between Hong Kong and mainland provinces and making good use of the development opportunities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Through the cooperation between Hong Kong and the Mainland, we will realize the ideals for all sectors of Hong Kong society and transform everyone's efforts into the greatest and best results. He stressed that Hong Kong is now more in a position to start again than a year ago, and "Hong Kong starts again" is not a slogan, but a goal that must be achieved.

Leung also introduced the key work of grand alliance in the future - "Starting from the Greater Bay Area" series of projects, by which 11 deputy secretaries-general of grand alliances contacted, cooperated and implemented the docking of the development of the Greater Bay Area with the "9+2" cities in the Greater Bay Area.

Tam Yiu-chung, member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and secretary general of the Hong Kong Re-Departure Alliance, reviewed the work carried out by the Grand Alliance in the past year in epidemic prevention and control, economy and people's livelihood, youth employment, and rule of law education.

Tam Yiu-chung introduced that at the beginning of the epidemic last year, there was a serious shortage of masks in Hong Kong, and the Grand Alliance distributed more than 10 million masks to the public and schools, as well as a large number of disinfectant hand sanitizer and other epidemic prevention materials. In the face of the economic impact of the epidemic, the Grand Alliance set up a stimulus economic group, on the one hand, calling on employers to pledge not to lay off employees and to spend time with the public, with nearly 200 enterprises under the joint sponsors of the industrial and commercial circles and more than 4,000 Chinese-funded institutions participating in the joint response; on the other hand, it held the "Pro-Consumption and Support the Economy" campaign to establish an online platform to collect discounts and other preferential information from merchants in Hong Kong and distribute them to consumers.

In terms of youth work, in view of the difficulties of employment of fresh graduates, the Grand Alliance has set up a working group to assist in the employment of fresh graduates, calling on the enterprises affiliated with the business founders to provide job vacancies, raising a total of about 3,000 job vacancies, and holding 30 meetings for fresh graduates, with more than 400 students participating, and most of the graduates have found jobs within half a year.

In addition, grand alliances have set up a rule of law education group to promote the Hong Kong Basic Law and the Hong Kong National Security Law to primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. Grand Alliance has also set up an online publicity group, a mainland publicity group and an international publicity group to promote and promote a positive image of Hong Kong to Hong Kong, the mainland and abroad through the Internet.

Tam Stressed that this year is the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and Hong Kong should seize the opportunity. Looking forward to the coming year, the Grand Alliance will focus on five key tasks: First, publicize "one country, two systems" and hold a series of forums on "adhering to the 'one country, two systems' Hong Kong and then starting again"; second, promote Hong Kong's accelerated integration into the overall situation of national development and implement the "Departure from the Greater Bay Area" plan; third, support the development of youth education, further promote the "rule of law education into the campus" plan, and organize Young Hong Kong talents to go to the mainland for internships and temporary posts; fourth, actively tell the "Hong Kong story"; fifth, strengthen the construction of the Grand Alliance itself. In due course, the co-sponsor supplementary process will be launched, and another group of representative people will be recruited to join the grand alliance. (Reporter Liu Mingyang)
