In Taiwan, I am willing to settle down in the "Cold Gate"
In 1950, Kuomintang military and political personnel who fled from the interior to Taiwan spent their time in a state of shock and nervousness. In June, as soon as the crisis of the People's Liberation Army crossing the sea to attack Taiwan was lifted, a new redistribution of power had quietly begun on the island. Between the various factions of the Kuomintang, there was already a shadow of swords and swords. At this time, a figure who had been in power for a while was unusually calm in Taiwan: He Yingqin, who had served as the chief executive and defense minister of the Kuomintang government.
This kuomintang number two figure in the military field has always been a man of great power, so why is he now unusually silent?
He Yingqin is not an idle person. Born in 1890 in Xingyi County, Guizhou Province, he studied military affairs in Japan twice, participating in the Xinhai Revolution and the Patriotic War. From 1924, he went to Guangzhou as the chief instructor of the Whampoa Military Academy, and spent decades with Chiang Kai-shek, and he was well aware of Chiang Kai-shek's personality.
Although Chiang Kai-shek announced his resignation in February 1949, he actually still influenced the political situation of the Republic of China and manipulated the leadership of the Kuomintang. Now that he has been defeated and retired to Taiwan Island, Chiang Kai-shek has been reinstated. He Yingqin knew very well that for a long time, Chiang Ching-kuo's "princeling faction" supported by Chiang Kai-shek had become a climate, and it was inevitable that it would take its place in the older faction.
He Yingqin knew that Chiang Kai-shek would inevitably retaliate against those who had opposed him as soon as the opportunity arose. He Yingqin inspected the point of life, and for decades, there was indeed a time when he had a problem with Chiang Kai-shek. Therefore, He Yingqin can only be cautious, such as walking on thin ice, a little careless, will lead to the disaster of killing.
For a long time, He Yingqin claimed to have "thought behind closed doors", lived in simplicity, and did not hear about political affairs. At home, in addition to reading books and writing articles, He Yingqin was also fascinated by golf. Chiang Kai-shek was bewildered by its superficiality, and Chiang Kai-shek was also mindful of his friendship with He Yingqin over the years, considering that he had contributed to the Chiang family regime to some extent. In addition, He Yingqin is 60 years old and has withdrawn from himself, which cannot pose a threat to Chiang Ching-kuo.
In this way, although Chiang Kai-shek excluded He Yingqin from the personnel arrangements of the new regime, he still gave him an honorary position and made him the director of the "Presidential Office Strategic Advisory Committee." Subsequently, he was given a fictitious post as a member of the Kuomintang Central Committee Review Committee. These two departments were Chiang Kai-shek's "cold doors" to appease the Kuomintang elders. However, He Yingqin was very grateful for this arrangement, because Chiang Kai-shek did not cut him after all.
In order to express his gratitude to Chiang Kai-shek, He Yingqin not only willingly settled in the "Leng Yamen", but also shook his spirit and continued to fight for Chiang Kai-shek's regime. He continued to publish articles, speeches, and speeches in Taiwan touting Chiang Kai-shek.
In his later years, he missed his wife and missed his hometown
He Yingqin served in the Qian Army in his early years, and during the Patriotic War, he was wounded in Kunming, and Wang Wenxiang guarded day and night, carefully caring for him, so that he could be healed.
After He Yingqin recovered from his injuries, he learned that this savior was the sister of Wang Boqun, the governor of Guizhou Province, and Wang Wenhua, commander of the First Division of the Guizhou Army, and he fell deeply in love with this kind and delicate Miss Qianjin.
In 1920, He Yingqin married Wang Wenxiang, and from then on, they flew with wings.
In 1952, Wang Wenxiang suffered from breast cancer, and He Yingqin did his best to actively treat it. Wang Wenxiang's illness lasted until April 23, 1978, when he finally passed away. Although his wife also died at the age of 82, He Yingqin's inner grief was difficult to suppress, and he often could not help but cry.
In addition to missing his wife, He Yingqin often revealed his nostalgia for the past and his yearning for his hometown. Since the mainland implemented the policy of opening up, He Yingqin has always asked some relatives, friends and subordinates who have returned to Guizhou to inquire about the recent situation in their hometown.
When he heard that the old house of the He family was maintained by the local government and still maintained its old appearance, the relatives of the He family all looked forward to his return to his hometown to visit his relatives in Xingyi, and his heart was very happy. But in his words, he stubbornly adhered to the so-called "three noes" policy, and in the last years of his life, he was still full of fear and hostility toward the Communist Party and socialist China. Nevertheless, his homesickness and nostalgia are growing day by day. Despite his spirit, He Yingqin was an elderly man after all.
On October 21, 1987, He Yingqin finally ended his life due to heart and lung failure at the age of 98, two years before his 100th birthday.
After He Yingqin's death, Chiang Ching-kuo, who was unable to walk while ill, issued a "presidential decree" calling for "the ceremony of the end, to be generous and generous, and to be praised", and to award the title of "Tribute to the ElderLy".
In accordance with Chiang Ching-kuo's orders, people from all walks of life in Taipei held solemn public sacrifices. After the funeral, He Yingqin's coffin was escorted by various dignitaries and buried in The Five Finger Mountain of Xizhi in Taipei County.
