Since the development of Chinese calligraphy art, it has an increasingly extensive mass base. However, from the perspective of traditional inherent thinking, when many people talk about calligraphy, painting, poetry and song, most of them think of literati images; and the opposing martial artists seem to be only suitable for dancing knives and guns.
In fact, this is very one-sided, such as the Song Dynasty's Xin Qijie, who was called "the dragon in the word", but this did not prevent him from becoming an excellent military expert. He also "drunkenly picked up the lamp to see the sword, dreamed of blowing the horn company camp", personally led dozens of relatives to brave the golden army camp, and successfully captured the traitors, which is more like a general can do. Therefore, the general may not be unable to write poetry and painting. For example, the calligraphy of He Yingqin, the former chief instructor of the Whampoa Military Academy and a first-class general of the Republic of China Army that we want to share today, is also quite good!

Putting aside the grievances of history, from a pure calligraphy point of view, although He Yingqin's calligraphy was not a calligrapher during the Republic of China period, it was also rare and valuable that he could have such a skill as a soldier. In particular, his line and calligraphy are rigid and soft, dignified and elegant, and natural! Even from another aspect, its calligraphy is not inferior to any professional calligrapher's master, which is enough to make today's ugly calligraphers ashamed, which can be described as both literary and martial.
He Yingqin (2 April 1890 – 21 October 1987) was a first-class general in the Republic of China Army.
He Yingqin studied in Japan in his early years, and after the outbreak of the Xinhai Revolution, he returned to China to join the Shanghai Army. After the defeat of the Second Revolution, he went to Japan to attend the Army Non-Commissioned Officer School. After returning to China, he went to Guizhou to serve as the principal of the Wushu School and the chief of staff of the Qianjun Army. In 1924, he went to Guangzhou and served as the chief instructor of the Whampoa Military Academy and the commander of the first regiment. After the Northern Expedition, he served as a member of the National Government, chief of staff of the General Headquarters of the Army, Navy and Air Force, and minister of the Ministry of Military Affairs. In 1934, he was awarded the rank of General of the First Class of the Army. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he served as the commander-in-chief of the Fourth Theater, the commander-in-chief of the Chinese Expeditionary Force, and the commander-in-chief of the Chinese Army in the Chinese Theater.
