Recently, The 87-year-old old hero of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, Grandpa Ma, was discharged from the hospital after careful treatment by the medical staff of the Second Ward of the General Surgery Department of the First Hospital of Qinhuangdao City. On the day of discharge, Grandpa Ma and his family were very happy, and specially brought some of Grandpa Ma's military medals to the hospital and took a group photo with the medical staff to express their gratitude.

Grandpa Ma is a veteran of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, who fought in the Korean battlefield for 4 years. Grandpa Ma came to the Second Ward of General Surgery (Gastrointestinal Surgery) of the First Hospital of Qinhuangdao City for 1 month due to difficulty in defecation, and after relevant examinations after admission, it was confirmed that Grandpa Ma was diagnosed with low-level rectal cancer, and the elderly suffered from hypertension, coronary heart disease and diabetes for many years. For low-level rectal cancer, because the tumor is very close to the anus, whether the operation can retain the anus is related to the patient's postoperative quality of life, very critical, the old hero is strong all his life, strongly requires to keep the anus, in order to ensure the safety of the operation, as far as possible to keep the anus, the second ward of general surgery launched a multidisciplinary consultation (MDT), fully carried out cardiopulmonary function assessment and VTE assessment, carried out corresponding treatment, and worked with the anesthesia department to develop anesthesia and intraoperative fluid control program, Preoperative and postoperative nutritional support was developed with nutrition specialists, and adequate protocols were made for possible unforeseen circumstances during and after surgery.

Due to the low location of the rectal tumor, and the elderly are more obese, which increases the difficulty of surgical cleaning and preservation of the anus, and finally determined to carry out radical resection of rectal cancer by laparoscopic minimally invasive method, the final operation was successfully completed by Professor Wang Yimin's team, the overall operation lasted 2 hours, successfully retained the anus, the surgical damage was very small, and the amount of bleeding did not exceed 10ml. Postoperative general medical staff started eras postoperative rehabilitation process, the first day after the operation began to drink water, the 2nd day nurse assisted Grandpa Ma to get out of bed and eat liquid food, the 4th day began to semi-liquid food, due to adequate preparation, proper disposal, the elderly are very cooperative, the recovery is very smooth, the elderly are discharged smoothly.

Under the leadership of Professor Wang Yimin, the second ward of general surgery of the First Hospital of Qinhuangdao City began to carry out laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery in 2009, which lasted 12 years, completed more than 2,000 cases of laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery, and trained four expert teams of Guo Yunsheng, Liu Qingbin, Zhang Xin, zhang Hao, all of whom can independently complete laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery, and have been very mature, statistics show that the survival rate of colorectal cancer patients after surgery is no different from that of well-known domestic hospitals such as Beijing and Tianjin. Received numerous thank-you letters and pennants from patients.

Laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery is characterized by small trauma, little bleeding, light pain, and rapid recovery of postoperative patients.
