Jian Xianren was born in 1909 in Cili County, Hunan Province, his father's name is Jian Chengyan, is a businessman, in the eyes of Jian Xianren, her father is very cultured and very enlightened, like to do his hobbies, due to the corruption of the imperial examination system at the end of the Qing Dynasty, Jian Chengyan did not choose to participate in the imperial examination, but learned to make handicrafts, and then opened a workshop in Cili County to make batik cloth, after the business gradually prospered, he has opened several shops selling daily groceries, and the family's life is quite rich.
Jian Chengyan used the money earned to buy land, supported the seven children of the Jian family, the second eldest in the ranking, there was a big sister above, there was also the old third step first, the old fourth step was the first Buddha, the old fifth was the first to go, etc. For the children, the old man believed that both men and women should study, and the eldest sister who was the first to go to school at that time learned to write and count in school, because there were more children in the family, and she needed to come back to help take care of it.
At first, the two of them studied in private school, and then they went to Changsha, Hunan Province, when the revolutionary tide was surging at the time, in 1926, only 15 years old, Jian Xianwei took the lead in joining the Communist Party, and served as a traffic officer of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Party of China, responsible for liaison work, the next year, Jian Xianren also joined the Communist Party of China under the influence of his brother, Jian Chengyan was very worried about the children's activities, he very seriously told Jian Xianren, "Next time what are you going to do, We must first tell our families that we should stop grabbing the landlords and their families, and stop shouting revolutionary slogans. In May 1927, Xu Kexiang launched the "Ma-Ri Incident" in Changsha, massacring communists on a large scale, Jian Xianren and his brother Jian Xian escaped the wind before returning to Changsha to continue their studies, before the Spring Festival in 1928, the two returned home on vacation for the Spring Festival, participated in the Nianguan Rebellion in Shimen Nanxiang, beat the local tycoons and killed the inferior gentry, and soon spread to Cili County, and the Kuomintang troops stationed in Changde sent troops to Shimen to suppress, and in late March, Shimen Middle School and Shimen Girls' School were surrounded by troops. In August 1928, Jian Xianwei found the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army led by He Long and joined the Red Army, He Long heard that Jian Xianwei was a middle school student, and when he saw that he was young, he actually participated in the Shimen Rebellion, and he liked him very much, so he let him follow Zhang Yiming as a propagandist, responsible for writing and posting slogans.
In August 1929, He Long led the main force of the Red Fourth Army from Sangzhi to Cili, and on August 27, the Red Fourth Army came to YimuQiao, at which time Jian Xianren and his brother, who were hiding in his uncle's house, met again after nearly two years. Zhang Yiming was a Cili person, and when he learned from Jian Xianwei that his sister was a "female talent" and had joined the party two years ago, he took Jian Xianwei to find Jian Xianren and warmly invited her to work in the Red Fourth Army.
