Run a new school to enlighten the people's wisdom

It has left a strong mark on Shantou education

Located on the outer road of the city, the former site of the Lingdong Tong Literature Hall is a school-style Traditional Chaoshan Ancestral Hall building, although the appearance is slightly vicissitudes, but it can not hide its glorious history, and now, the first entrance door is still hung with the "Tong Literature Hall" plaque inscribed by Qiu Fengjia. In 1901, the famous educator Qiu Fengjia personally served as the superintendent and premier, presiding over the comprehensive work at the former site of the "Lingdong Tong Literature Hall", leaving a strong mark on the heroic city of Shantou.

Qiu Fengjia, the character Xiangen, known as "Mr. Canghai", was born in Zhenping County, Guangdong (now Jiaoling, Guangdong), and was born in Taiwan in 1864. After the Sino-Japanese Sino-Japanese Sino-Japanese Naval War in 1895, the Qing government signed the Treaty of Maguan with Japan, which humiliated the country, and the treasure island of Taiwan was forced to be cut off. Qiu Fengjia stabbed the blood and wrote a letter, leading the entire Taiwan gentry to write a letter opposing the cession of Taiwan, saying that they wanted to coexist and die with the land of Sangzi, and the Qing court did not accept it. Qiu Fengjia united a group of patriots to fight with the Japanese army, but the disparity between the enemy and our forces was helpless, and the anti-Japanese forces were suppressed miserably. Qiu Fengjia then left Tainaidu and traveled back and forth between Chaoshan and Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao, and nanyang, continuing to contact the forces of all sides. In order to save the country, revitalize the nation, and cultivate a new generation of people, he focused his main energy on the cause of education, insisted on running new schools, enlightened the people's wisdom, took speech as a call, and personally planned and assisted the newborn revolutionary forces.

A set of figures in the book "Qiu Fengjia and Shantou" shows his busyness in Chaoshan activities: in 1897, Qiu Fengjia served as the head of Chaozhou Hanshan Academy, and later served as a lecturer at Chaoyang Dongshan Academy and Chenghai Han Academy. In 1901, he presided over the Lingdong Tong Literature Hall in Shantou, setting a precedent for private education, making certain contributions to the promotion and development of new learning in Lingdong, and cultivating a large number of talents for Lingdong. According to records, in order to meet the needs of the situation, the Tongwentang also paid attention to the exercise of students' physique, and specially opened a "military gymnastics" course, and every time the students practiced military exercises, he carefully supervised the lessons next to them, which was unique at that time.

Shantou Waima Road No. 3 Primary School was formerly known as this tongwentang and is now a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit. "He has made an indelible contribution to Chaoshan education, which has been used as a school for 120 years." Hu Yingru, vice principal of Waima San Primary School, introduced that in that year, the Tongwentang held a sports meeting in front of Shantou Customs, and although the content was only a few sports such as short-distance racing, soldier gymnastics, and stacking luohans, the games were the first in Chaoshan and made chaoshan people know that there was such a thing as sports. In addition, the Tongwentang later added courses such as geography, English, and drawing, which greatly expanded the students' horizons. "Adhering to the spirit of tongwen, pioneering and innovating, and working hard, generations of students have come from here to talents from all walks of life, and have made great contributions to the construction of the motherland." Hu Yingru said.

Create poetry

The burning emotions inspire patriotic feelings among the people

Qiu Fengjia is an outstanding patriot and outstanding educator in china's modern history, and also a famous patriotic poet in the late Qing Dynasty, who was once praised by Liang Qichao as a "revolutionary giant in the poetry world" and occupies an important position in the history of Chinese literature.

"Spring sorrow is difficult to send to look at the mountain, and the past is full of tears. Four million people wept in unison, cutting off Taiwan last year today. The cover of the new book is designed with this poem titled "Spring Sorrow", which was written by Qiu Fengjia to mourn the first anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Maguan. At that time, the poet was sad and indignant, on the one hand, he accused the Qing Dynasty of corruption and incompetence, and on the other hand, he also warned his children and grandchildren: "Four million Taiwan compatriots, still slave to the Wo, my brothers and grandchildren, when we always remember the vengeance, do not forget to recover!" ”

During his stay in Shantou, he presided over the Tongwen Hall, enthusiastically disseminated democratic ideas and Western civilization to young students, and took "secondary school for use, western learning supplemented by western learning" as the purpose of running the school, enlightening the people, and actively guiding young students to care about the future and destiny of the country and the nation, and was loved by the vast number of students.

"Mercedes-Benz sun and moon do not stop track, organize rivers and mountains have not done their work" ("In a Dream"), "The comeback is unknown, and the country and mountains must also be held by great people" ("Leaving Taiwan Poems") ... The fiery patriotism and heroic heroism are in full swing, and it is touching to read!

During his stay in Shantou, Qiu Fengjia wrote a large number of poems on the police time and the world, which reflected his infinite attachment to the treasure island of Taiwan and his good wishes for the restoration of Kyushu from different aspects. In a sense, the patriotic poems included in the book "Qiu Fengjia and Shantou" have important ideological value and practical significance, both then and today, stimulating the patriotic feelings of the people and injecting humanistic feelings into Shantou.

The organizers said that the purpose of editing and publishing "Qiu Fengjia and Shantou" is to let everyone remember the heroes' great achievements, carry forward the spirit of patriotism, let the heroic deeds be widely disseminated, make the conscious actions of learning heroes become a common practice, never forget the original intention, keep in mind the mission, and make greater contributions to the great cause of the reunification of the motherland.
