No fishing and retiring: moat lake, excellent ecology

From a professional fisherman to a volunteer who guards the river and lake, Wu Xinyue's life has undergone a major change. Wu Xinyue is a resident of Baishazhou Community in Taojiang County. Fishing in the Zijiang River in a small boat was the main way for families to make ends meet in the past. After Taojiang launched the "Qinghe Action" and promoted the work of banning fishing and retiring fishing, he took the initiative to put the boat ashore and actively participated in the river patrol and moat, which was rumored to be a good story in the local area.

In order to ensure the implementation of the "ten-year fishing ban" on the Yangtze River, the Taojiang County Party Committee and the county government have raised their political standing and made every effort to promote the work of banning fishing and retiring fishing. After repeated verification, 813 fishermen were approved to retire from the Taojiang River. It is very difficult for fishermen to rely on water to draft water and let them retreat from fishing.

However, no matter how difficult it is, it must be done well. Taojiang County has stepped up policy publicity to help fishermen change their attitudes. In order to strengthen the guidance and connection of the work of retiring fishing, the county has established a "double-guarantee mechanism" for the county's direct departments to pack towns and villages, and townships and towns to pack villages, and has also vigorously publicized the typical examples of retired fishermen turning into production and employment through the media, which has played a good role in demonstration and leading.

Five job fairs for retired fishermen were held, providing more than 3,500 jobs, and 185 retired fishermen reached employment intentions. The county has also introduced relevant preferential policies to guide enterprises to prefer retired fishermen when employing workers.
