Matthew 13:53-58 (Not Respected)

Jesus was more respected and valued in his native village, but the scripture says:

Questioning the Lord's power: "Jesus finished these parables and left there." Matthew 13:53

Defying His birth: "Isn't this the son of a carpenter? Wasn't his mother called Mary? Didn't his brethren call Jacob, Jossi (there are scrolls: Joseph), Simon, and Judas? Aren't his sisters all here with us? Where does this man have all this from?" Matthew 13:55-56

Disgusted with the Lord Himself: "They forsaken Him. Jesus said to them, "There is no great prophet who is not respected except in his native house." Matthew 13:57

Immortal Mercy (14-15): When the masses despise and dislike Him like this, how does He treat this generation! The Lord still has the mercy of a king, and his mercy is not changed or diminished by man.

Beyond One's Own Needs (14:1-21)

1. The Lord needs to retreat into the wilderness alone:

"On Herod's birthday, Herod's daughter danced before the crowd to make Herod rejoice. Herod then swore an oath to give him what he asked for. The daughter, who was persuaded by her mother, said, "Please put John the Baptist's head on a plate and bring it to me." The king was sorrowful, but because of the oath he had made, and because of the people who were at the table, he commanded her; so he sent him, and in prison he beheaded John, put his head on a plate, and gave it to the woman, who took it to her mother. John's disciples came and buried the leader of the corpses, and went to tell Jesus. Jesus heard this, and got on the boat and retreated from there alone into the fields. When the people heard this, they followed him on foot from the cities." Mt 14:6-13

John was eventually killed by Herod, he was the vanguard of the Lord, he was physically related to the Lord, and when he died, the Lord might be sad, or he would have to wonder how John the Baptist's work was over, the path was prepared, and what was to be done in the future? The Lord also has His personal needs, and He needs to retreat quietly and alone into the wilderness.

2. The Lord still has mercy on those who follow Him:

"When Jesus came out and saw many people, he took mercy on them and healed their sick. When it was getting late, the disciples came in and said, "This is the field, and the time has passed, so please disperse the people, so that they may go to the village and buy their own food." Jesus said, "Don't let them go, give them food!" The disciple said, "We have only five loaves of bread and two fish." Jesus said, "Bring it to me."

So he commanded the multitude to sit on the grass, and with these five loaves and two fish, looked at the blessings of heaven, and opened the bread and handed it to the disciples, and the disciples handed them to the multitudes. They all ate, and they were full; they gathered up the rest of the bits and pieces and filled them with twelve baskets." Matthew 14:14-20

Matthew is not respected but still has mercy

But many followed Him, and at this time the Lord laid down his needs and took mercy on them. Let them be healed, and they may be satisfied.

The Epistle of the Disciples (14:22-36)

"In the night of the fourth day, Jesus walked on the sea to the disciples." Matthew 14:25

Jesus hurriedly said to them, "Rest assured! It's me, don't be afraid!" Peter said, "Lord, if it were you, tell me to come from the water to you." Jesus said, "Come." And Peter went down from the boat, walked on the water, and went to Jesus, but when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and he was about to sink, and he cried out, "Lord, save me!" Jesus quickly reached out and took him by the hand, saying, "Why do you doubt, little believer?" They got on the boat and the wind stopped. The people on the boat worshipped him and said, "You are truly the Son of God." Mt 14:27-33

The Lord was walking in the sea, and Peter saw that he wanted to learn from the Lord, but he had little faith, so he wanted to sink into the sea, and the Lord did not help him because of the disciple's small letter, and quickly reached out and pulled him back.

Transcend ethnic differences

1. The holy people are filled with filth

Accusing others of transgressing the inheritance of the ancients: "Then there were Pharisees and scribes who came from Jerusalem to see Jesus and said, 'Why did your disciples commit the inheritance of the ancients?' Because when they eat, they don't wash their hands." Matthew 15:1-2

Using the inheritance of the ancients (possibly derived from the teachings of the narration or the teachings of the rabbis), they questioned why the Disciples of the Lord ate and did not wash their hands.

But he did the commandments of the true God: "Jesus replied, 'Why have you violated god's commandments because of your inheritance?' God said, "Honor your parents," and he said, "Whoever curses his parents will put him to death." You say, 'Whoever says to your parents, 'Whoever I owe you has already made a sacrifice, he can disrespect his parents.' This is how you have renounced God's commandments through heredity." Matthew 15:3-6

They seem to obey the words of the ancients, but they do not keep God's commandments---- honor their parents, and worship them, but in order to cover up their evil, they use some genetic principles---- if they are given to God, they do not have to give to their parents to support their filial piety.

What really filthy man is the evil in his heart: "Don't you know that whoever is in the mouth is transported into the stomach and falls into the latrine?" The only thing that comes out is what comes out of the heart, and this is what defiles people. For from the heart comes evil thoughts, murder, adultery, adultery, theft, false testimony, and slander. It's all filthy; as for not washing your hands and eating, it's not filthy." Matthew 15:17-20

Jesus, on the other hand, cites the washing of one's hands before eating to point out that what can really pollute a person is not what comes out, but evil in the heart of man, and that hypocrites are filled with filth.

2. An unclean nation that has mercy by faith:

"A Canaanite woman came out of that place and cried, 'Lord, son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is very bitterly possessed by ghosts." Matthew 15:22

Jesus said, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." The woman came to him and said, "Lord, help me!" He replied, "It is not good to throw the bread of a child to a dog." The woman said, "Lord, it's good, but the dog also eats the crumbs that fall from his master's table." Jesus said, "Woman, your faith is great! Do as you please, and fulfill it for you." Since then, her daughter has been fine." Matthew 15:24-28

The Jews have always believed that salvation will come only to the elect, that the Gentiles have no part in the covenants, and that the Lord did come into the world primarily to find the sheep who would save Israel (but he still wanted all to be saved, it was only a matter of order).

When the Cathian woman sought the Lord to heal her daughter, the Lord used the metaphor of "it is not good to take the bread of her children and throw it to the dogs" to describe it as not being able to give the salvation of the elect to the Gentiles, as if to test the faith of the Canaanite woman.

Matthew is not respected but still has mercy

The woman was not discouraged by this, although she was a Gentile, but she used the phrase "the dog eats the Lord... "Scumbag" to show that gentiles can also receive the king's grace, to show her faith and firmness, and the Lord fulfilled her according to her faith.

Beyond the Sheer Number (15:29-39)

1. Healing many sick people:

"Many people came to him, with cripples, blindness, mutes, disabled people, and many other sick people, and put them at his feet; and he cured them." Matthew 15:30

2. Have mercy on the many hungry:

Jesus called his disciples and said, "I have mercy on these people, for they have been with me for three days and have no food. I don't want to tell them to go back hungry, for fear of being sleepy on the road." Matthew 15:32

"Seeing their lack, not wanting them to suffer, meeting their needs."

"Then he commanded the multitude to sit on the ground, and to take these seven loaves and a few fish, and to give thanks, and to them, and to them, and the disciples handed them to the disciples. The crowd ate, and when they were full, they packed up the rest of the bits and pieces and filled them with seven baskets. There are four thousand people who eat, except for women and children." Mt 15:35-38
