·“ "Pen and ink" began in the Yuan Dynasty, it is not attached to things, and becomes an object of independent appreciation. Becoming the primary criterion for the creation and evaluation of Chinese paintings is a major leap in the history of Chinese painting.

Throughout the history of Chinese painting, "pen and ink" is basically developed in a gradual way, which is closely related to the development of the history of Chinese calligraphy. After the "Fine Arts Revolution" at the beginning of the 20th century, some painters with new ideas revolutionized their brush and ink. Some painters completely abandoned pen and ink, some painters insisted on improvement, and then slowly returned decades later, and they revisited the tradition of the Fa to discuss the inheritance and development of ink in depth.
