In September 1946, the famous physicist Wu Dayu recommended Zhu Guangya and Li Zhengdao to study in the United States to study nuclear physics. On October 1, 1949, the People's Republic of China was founded. For a time, Chinese students studying in the United States rushed to tell each other. From November to December of the same year, Zhu Guangya and others in Ann Arbor, the seat of the University of Michigan in the United States, organized many forums for Chinese students studying in the name of the Association for Science and Technology in the United States, with the themes of "New China and Scientific Workers" and "Quickly Organize themselves to Return to China" to discuss the role of scientific workers in building a new China and mobilize everyone to return to China.

At the end of 1949, Zhu Guangya took the lead in organizing the drafting of an "Open Letter to Students Studying in the United States", calling on overseas students to return to China to participate in the construction, and 52 Chinese students signed the open letter.

Eager to return home, the time is not waiting for me! Zhu Guangya rushed to return to the motherland in February 1950 aboard the "President Cleveland" ship before the United States imposed a total blockade on China.

In the upsurge of devoting himself to the construction of New China, Zhu Guangya had a firm belief in communism. In April 1956, Zhu Guangya gloriously joined the Communist Party of China. He closely linked his personal ideals with the destiny of the motherland and fought for them all his life.

On the land of China, a series of major tests, such as the explosion of the first atomic bomb, the explosion of the first hydrogen bomb, the first airdrop explosion of a nuclear aerial bomb, the first atomic bomb, the combined test of missile "two bombs," and the underground nuclear test, were all carried out under the leadership of Zhu Guangya's participation in the organization.
