Question: The "fission" effect of a high-tech beach sheep
Xinhua News Agency reporter Ma Sijia Tang Rufeng
Stealing grazing, the number of beach sheep has dropped sharply, and the prospects for industrial development are bleak... As one of the "five treasures" of Ningxia, the beach sheep has brought serious ecological problems, and many local people were once reluctant to raise sheep because of the complete closure of the mountains and the prohibition of grazing, and this delicate flesh and tasteless state banquet sheep almost became an "endangered animal".
"If the value of the beach sheep increases, the people will be willing to spend money to buy forage, and who is willing to run to the mountains to steal grazing?" In 2003, Kou Qifang, a veterinarian, heard her husband who returned from studying in Japan talk about the higher value of snowflake beef, and immediately decided to make snowflake beach lamb to develop this advantageous industry.
At the foot of Luoshan Mountain in Hongsibao District, Wuzhong City, Ningxia, Kou Qifang and her husband Niu Wenzhi borrowed money to establish Tianyuan Liang breeding and breeding co., LTD., and invited experts and professors from scientific research institutes to develop snowflake mutton with marbling patterns. She expanded the scale of breeding, cooperated with universities, and explored the production of beach sheep with multiple lambs, larger heads and higher fur value through natural breeding, molecular breeding, gene editing, etc.
Today, Kou Qifang has built the largest beach sheep breeding and scientific research base in Ningxia at the foot of Luoshan Mountain, and has supporting facilities such as feed processing plant, beach lamb processing plant, cold storage, laboratory and so on, realizing the integrated development of primary, secondary and tertiary industries.
The Beach Sheep Base has also become a treasure trove of scientific research. On the ninth cold day, under the leadership of the mentor, several graduate students collected sheep manure from rams in the metabolic cage in the sheep barn, formulated a precise feeding plan, improved efficiency, and reduced the environmental pollution caused by nitrogen and carbon dioxide in sheep manure urine.
"The base has provided us with superior test conditions and sufficient test sheep, and we have not only completed scientific research projects, but also trained a large number of graduate students, and reserve important forces for the development of animal husbandry." Professor Wang Xiaolong of Northwest A&F University said.
Scientific and technological achievements have also directly benefited surrounding farmers. Kou Qifang said that the researched feeding scheme has been extended to all villages. Over the years, she has sent breeding rams and basic ewes to double-old households and poor households in nearby villages; invited experts and professors to carry out various technical training and science popularization lectures for more than 220 sessions, and the number of trainings reached more than 21,500 person-times.
The economic benefits of snowflake lamb also radiate to the countryside. In Longyuan Village, Kou Qifang cooperated with the local government to establish a science and technology poverty alleviation base, hosting more than 2,000 beach sheep from 100 poor households in the village. "A sheep to the people to make up 150 yuan, breeding costs borne by the base, after the expiration of the agreement they pulled the big sheep back, lamb I kept to make snowflake lamb, after the sale of the people and then give the people a second dividend." Kou Qifang said.
Hai Yuxiang, a poor household in Longyuan Village, raised 30 beach sheep in the poverty alleviation base and received a dividend of 4500 yuan. He also has more than 20 beach sheep in his home. According to the precise poverty alleviation policy of Hongsibao District, more than 26 beach sheep are bred, and the government also subsidizes 8,000 yuan.
The poverty alleviation base solves the problem that some people have nowhere to breed in their homes, and also reduces the cost of forage. "The price of hay has risen again this year, but the beach sheep breeding income is large, and they don't care about the money for hay, who still wants to steal grazing?" Hai Yuxiang said, "In the past, there were less than 20 households raising sheep in the village, but now there are more than two hundred households, and the development of beach sheep is very fast." ”
